Game of Thrones star Hafthor Bjornsson has smashed the deadlift world record during the coronavirus lockdown.

While the pandemic has forced us all to grab some snacks and cosy up on the couch ready to tune into Netflix for the day, it turns out The Mountain actor is still in training.

And not only that, he’s gone and broken the world record by lifting a whopping 1,104 pounds (501 kilograms) at Thor’s Power Gym.

Thousands tuned in on Saturday night to watch the moment – which the strongman had been hyping up on his social media accounts.

And it looked as though he did it with ease, as the 31-year-old gracefully picked up the weight before dropping it back onto the ground.

Taking to Instagram, the new world champ posted the video and wrote: ‘I have no words. What an amazing day, one I will remember for the rest of my life.

‘I said I was coming for it and once I set my mind on something I’m a dog with a bone.’

He then turned his attention to all the love and support he’s received, adding: ‘Want to give a huge shoutout to my family, friends, coaches, fans, sponsors and haters, all of whom helped this lift be possible.

‘If you want to show some extra support head over to my YouTube, hit subscribe and check out my latest video where you can see some behind the scenes! Thank you all for your support!’

The previous world record was set by fellow strongman Eddie Hall who back in 2016, lifted an incredible 500 kilograms (1,102 pounds).

The boys will now go head to head when the lockdown eases in the boxing ring – after Bjorn challenged Eddie following his feat.

Clapping back, his rival accepted, and warned the new world record holder: ‘Word’s Strongest man 2017, I trained for that like no other man did and I came and dominated that competition, and just like I did for that, I’m going to do for the fight.

‘I’m going to train for this like I’ve never trained for anything before. I’m going to swim out to those dark waters and I want you to come with me.’

‘I’m going to keep swimming and I guarantee you, I don’t give a f**k anymore. I’m not turning back, but you will, because you’re a p***y.’

The 32-year-old continued: ‘I’m going to keep swimming out to those dark waters and you can’t bring your entourage with you. It’s a cold, dark, horrible place, and it all ends in the ring.

‘I’m going to teach you a f**king lesson. Okay? I’m going to teach you a lesson and you’re going to f**king need it. See you in the ring.’

The game is on!
