What’s in store for the House of The Dragon? (Picture: HBO)

Game Of Thrones may be over but the sagas of Westeros are set to continue for a long time yet – starting with upcoming prequel, House Of The Dragon.

After unceremoniously dropping Bloodmoon, another hyped up tale of the life before the Seven Kingdoms saga we know and love, HBO boss Casey Bloys surprised fans everywhere with a straight to series order.

However, since the beginning of the year, things have gone quiet on the future of the show, with the industry-wide shutdown throwing a spanner in the works.

But that doesn’t mean we’re any less excited about what’s to come, and what we’re about to see of the family that eventually brought us to the Mother Of Dragons herself, Daenerys Targaryen.

So when will we get to see the newest members of the Targaryen family? What are they going to get up to? And who will be involved?

Here’s everything we know so far…

What will Game Of Thrones: House Of The Dragon be about?

Set 300 years before the events of Game Of Thrones, House Of The Drason will follow the Targaryen family history, starting right at the formation of Westeros.

According to Game Of Thrones mythology, the Targaryen clan are one of the former Royal houses who ruled an empire, and united the Seven Kingdoms together.

Often followed by three dragons, their family declaration is ‘fire and blood’ and they often left both in their wake as they attempted to take over the kingdoms and eventually the walls outside Westeros.

But their thirst for power often saw members of the family descend into madness as their behaviour became more erratic and violent – and at most posts would end in their death.

House of the Dragon will be adapted from the events in author George RR Martin’s book Fire and Blood, which ends with massive battle nicknamed The Dance of the Dragons -caused by an inter-family civil war.

Seeing as incest runs within their family, this is going to get very complicated.

Will Emilia Clarke be in the cast of House Of The Dragon?

Sorry guys, but Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) will not be returning to the series any time soon – as the show is set centuries before the character was even born.

In fact, Emilia didn’t even know the show existed until she found out through the most trusted of sources – the group WhatsApp.

However, casting has begun on the new series – with a call for three of the most prominent names of the Targaryen bloodline being posted online.

Aegon and his sister-wives (yup) Visenya and Rhaenys Targaryen were all being looked for by the casting team in January.

No official names have been announced as attached to the series at the moment.

When is Game Of Thrones: House Of The Dragon released?

Unfortunately, a release fate for Game Of Thrones has not been announced.

This is in large part due to the expected scale of the series, and the unplanned lockdown of production caused by coronavirus, starting in March 2020.

Pre-production including script-writing, location scouting and casting was currently underway at the time the lockdown took effect.
