Who is in the cast of House of the Dragon?
The show will be taking place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, which means fans can expect some brand new stories and characters.
This also means, none of the characters from Game of Thrones are likely to be making an appearance apart from perhaps the Night King (played by Vladimir Furdik) or the Children of the Forest.
Even then, these wouldn’t really fit into the story of the rise of the Targaryens after they landed on the continent and began a brutal takeover of the Seven Kingdoms.
As Fire and Blood is a pseudo fictional account of the family, there’s no storyline as such and it allows for writers to build stories and characters around this history.

Much like Game of Thrones encyclopaedia A World of Ice and Fire, there’s plenty of room for scope.
House of the Dragon appears to be in the casting stages of the show and no details of actors have been released as yet.
However, according to publication Knight Edge Media, a casting call has gone out for House of the Dragon looking for stars to audition to play Aegon, Visenya and Rhaenys Targaryen.
This suggests Aegon’s Conquest will form the basis of the drama as the trio of Targaryens turn up in the Seven Kingdoms and make plans to dominate.
Lead Visenya is the older sister and wife of Aegon and is described as: “A voluptuous, stern, serious, and unforgiving woman. Riding the dragon Vhagar.”
Finally, the third lead is Rhaenys, who is the youngest sister of Aegon.
The casting call states she is: “Kindhearted, graceful, playful, curious, impulsive, and given to flights of fancy, with a mischievous aspect to her personality. Riding the dragon Meraxes.”
The publication shared this casting announcement back in January 2020, so it may be too early at this stage for any decisions to have been made about who will be appearing in the show.
However, auditions could well be taking place now with an announcement made later on this year.
Game of Thrones featured an eclectic cast of actors from all over the world including British actors Lena Headey, Dame Diana Rigg, Sean Bean and Charles Dance.
The show predominately featured a British cast and made stars out of the likes of Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke.
However, there were also international cast members including Danes Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Pilou Asbaek, Dutch actress Carice via Houten and Chilean-American star Pedro Pascal, among others.
House of the Dragon will be premiering on HBO in 2022
