Naomi Watts is officially in the Game Of Thrones gang as Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) and Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) pass the baton over to her in a sweet Emmys snap.
The actress is playing an unconfirmed role in the upcoming spin-off Bloodmoon, following the end of Game Of Thrones earlier this year.
Beaming backstage, Gwendoline and Lena threw their arms around the newest member of the Westeros squad as she takes the reins over from them to bring forth a new era for the franchise.
Naomi wrote next to the pic: ‘This was a bit exciting…!!! Loved bumping into these seriously talented ladies @iamlenaheadey @gwendolineuniverse #GOT congratulations.’
While little is known about the plot for Bloodmoon, which wrapped filming for the pilot in July, George RR Martin confirmed that it would be set hundreds of years before the tale that unfolds in Game Of Thrones.
It’s rumoured that Naomi could be playing Florys the Fox, which, according to Westeros folklore, According to Westeros mythology, kept three husbands (none of whom knew about each other).
Her sons became the founders of House Florent, House Ball and House Peake, but she could’ve potentially been the mother to fourth son Lann the Clever, who eventually starts the Lannister family.
That means we could see the meeting of Naomi’s Florys and her great-great-great-great-grandaughter, Cersei!
The theory comes as Naomi was spotted filming the drama on location in Italy in an opulent gold dress.
Another leak from the set also showed a boat with a sigil which could be that of the early Starks.
Meanwhile, Game Of Thrones took home two Emmys at last night’s ceremony, bringing the total Emmy win count this year up to 12 following their wins at the Creative Emmys last week.
Among them, Peter Dinklage, aka Tyrion Lannister, won his fourth Best Supporting Actor in a Drama nod, setting the record for years to come.
Game Of Thrones is available on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK. Bloodmoon is yet to be given a release date.
