If there’s one thing Twitter users are pros at, it is making memes out of every situation. And the latest twist in Maharashtra politics has given Twitterati enough fodder for imagination.

President Ram Nath Kovind, on Saturday morning, revoked the proclamation of central rule implemented in the state since November 12. In an overnight development, BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the Maharashtra Chief Minister for the second consecutive term while Pawar took oath as Deputy Chief Minister of the state, early this morning. The oath was administered by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to Fadnavis and Pawar at Raj Bhawan.

The move came at a time when deliberations between Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena on government formation seemingly reached the final stage on Friday.

Since the after the news, reactions have been pouring in on social media. Several users are comparing the situation to the hit HBO-series ‘Game of Thrones‘. The hashtag #GameofThrones has become one of the top trends on the microblogging platform.

Commenting on the overnight development, a user tweeted a picture of a newspaper headline saying ‘Uddhav to be Maharashtra CM’, against a backdrop of Fadnavis being sworn-in as CM on TV. “Today’s news paper has lost its importance along with #ShivaSena,” he captioned the post.

Another user compared the situation to the show’s tragic red wedding.

Many users said Amit Shah should’ve written the final season of the show, with some comparing him to the author of the books on which the show is based, George RR Martin.

One user went ahead and made character comparisons between the show and politicians.

A user pointed out the time of the development, and compared it to waking up to watching the show that would air at 6 am in India.
