New character alerts! (Picture: HBO)

Game of Thrones fans are in for a treat as eight new characters are said to have been cast for the eighth and final season of the hit HBO show.

Details of the popular fantasy show are beginning to creep in – and we really can’t contain ourselves.

Usually, this kind of information is hard to come by whenever GoT is filming, but now HBO has released casting announcements for eight characters, according to Watchers On The Wall.

Yes, that’s right a massive EIGHT characters.

So, what we know is that five characters are required for an ‘improve-heavy scene’ about haggling over land and three have been cast for an even larger role, according to the website.

The improv-heavy scene suggests that a comedy value could be brought into the show, to lighten the mood as war was still pending for the main houses.

And if you were wondering how a usually moody Jon Snow would fair in a potentially jokey-scene, we must note that none of the main cast have been mentioned for the seemingly ‘light-hearted’ scene.

As for the three larger roles, the website did not give any indication of their names but did let us in on some pretty descriptive character profiles.

‘Strong Soldier’

The production is reportedly looking for a ‘physically intense performance from a strapping squaddie type.’

They’ve called for a male actor aged 30-40, and filming for will reportedly begin on the week commencing 23 May, according to the fan website.

‘Young Village Girl’

Up next is a young girl that will play a rather ‘typical part’ in the show.

The HBO casting call was said to note the girl ‘will be attacked by a man in a physically intense scene’, while it also stated the actress, aged between 18 and 25, ‘will need to go naked above-the-waist’.

‘Grieving man’

The final character that is reportedly being sought is a 30-40-year-old male, described as a clean-shaven ‘grieving man who will be in an intensely emotional scene’.

The publication states that the casting call is looking for someone who will not act ‘too over the top.’

Shooting for this character is said to film on 18 June in Belfast.

Game of Thrones is expected to return to Sky Atlantic in 2019.
