Game of Thrones officially boasts the number one spot atop the list of the most tweeted about TV shows of 2019, after a definitive top 10 list was recently released by Twitter. These statistics come from data measured from January 1 to November 15. That means The Mandalorian is basically out of the running, but still, we doubt it would have taken the top spot this quickly, no matter how cute Baby Yoda is.
Here is the list for Twitter’s most tweeted about TV shows of 2019 in full:
- Game of Thrones
- Stranger Things
- The Simpsons
- La Casa De Papel (Money Heist)
- Grey’s Anatomy
- Love Island
- Catfish: The TV Show
- Family Guy
- The Walking Dead
- Narcos
And Game of Thrones snagged the top spot despite only having six episodes to discuss. People flocked to Twitter in their millions to express their opinions and share memes:
That coffee cup definitely helped Game of Thrones climb the rankings.
Game of Thrones is no stranger to this accolade, having achieved the elusive number one spot in 2017 and finishing ninth last year despite not even airing a single episode — now that’s impressive!
While it may have come out on top, once again the streaming giant Netflix proves a formidable force on Twitter, with three Netflix original shows securing places in the top 10, including Stranger Things, Narcos and La Casa De Papel (Money Heist).
Unsurprisingly, Avengers: Endgame took the number one spot among the most-tweeted-about movies of 2019. In fact, every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie released this year featured on the list, with Spider-Man: Far From Home and Captain Marvel finishing fourth and seventh respectively. Joker claimed third place, making it the only DC property on the list. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which is out this month, placed ninth

Game of Thrones also turned up on the list of the 10 most Googled things in 2019, and was the most-searched TV show:

This will likely be the final time we’ll see Game of Thrones make lists like this. Although we may well see HBO’s follow-up series, House of the Dragon, when it kicks off. In some way or another, Westeros may stay at the center of online conversation.
