One of Iwan Rheon’s most famous roles may be as the terrifying Ramsay Bolton in Game Of Thrones, but the actor doesn’t mind playing the villain if the role is right.
The actor told Metro.co.uk: ‘I guess I’m not really that bothered [whether I play a good guy or a villain].
‘I just sort of look for characters that I think are interesting, and obviously if the writing is good, then it’s going to be fun.
‘And you know, and I don’t know, I just seem to have got a couple of villains, so I guess people sort of see me as that.
‘But until I played Ramsay I never considered myself as that kind of actor but then obviously everything changed.
‘I like to play a variety of kinds of characters, but they have to be interesting, really.’
Iwan is the latest in a series of on-screen baddies who have teamed up with The Kraken Rum for Krakenory, where they read terrifying sea-faring tales to give fans something to entertain them amid the current lockdown.
Iwan’s extracts of choice come from Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Edgar Allen Poe’s A Descent into The Maelström, but he admitted he has had only good experiences when it comes to working on the open water.
He revealed a particular favourite job on the high seas, explaining: ‘I really like going on boats, it’s one of my favourite things.
‘I’ve done a couple of jobs where I’ve spent some actual real time on a boat, like whe I was filming Riviera,
‘We were out on this yacht all day, it was amazing actually, we were just on it all day just going around the Mediterranean. It was a hard day!
‘I mean I’ve been on a few ferries that were a bit shaky but I’ve never encountered any sea monsters!’
Iwan Rheon’s episode of Krakenory will be available on Instagram and Facebook from 12pm on Friday 10thApril.
