Iwan Rheon has recalled the ‘horrible’ day on Game Of Thrones filming the controversial rape scene.
His villainous character Ramsay Bolton raped new wife Sansa Stark (Sophie Stark) on their wedding night, forcing Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) to watch.
The Welsh actor understandably hated every minute, particularly as it was different to the fantastical violence Game Of Thrones is known for.
He told Metro.co.uk: ‘That was horrible. Nobody wanted to be there. Nobody wants to do that, but if it’s telling a story then you have to tell it truthfully.
‘They didn’t sensationalise it or anything. It was very, very hard watching. It’s a horrible thing that happens, unfortunately, and it shouldn’t be. It was the worst day of my career.
‘Chopping someone’s finger off you don’t really see it, and when you’re doing like a close up, it’s a piece of plastic. We’re just acting, it’s not real. Then something like that where you’re in the actual reality of the situation is very difficult to deal with. It was a horrible, horrible day.’
He went on: ‘This is something that we shouldn’t even have to worry about, because it’s something that shouldn’t exist in this world but unfortunately it does.’
The 35-year-old has a side project making music for himself, which he has been able to pick up again during lockdown.
‘I don’t necessarily want it to be a massive thing, and the lovely thing about it is there’s no pressure on the music. I get to just enjoy it,’ he told us.
‘I’ve written another [album], I call it Studio Iso-f*****g-lation! I’ve recorded bits and bobs on my own but they’re only demos not for release, just to start to get a collection of songs.
‘Hopefully at some point I’d like to record another album or something.’
For Halloween the Riviera star took part in spooky interactive game Screamfest IV: The Kraken’s Revenge, where players got to control him and guide him through a terrifying maze of horrors to escape a creature called The Balthazoid.
Thankfully he came out unscathed but did experience a ‘genuinely terrifying’ moment.
‘After a couple of them it was following a similar pattern,’ he explained, ‘and then one went a different way and it was genuinely terrifying, you can just see the monster in the corner of your eye making these weird noises. There were fully committed actors involved.
‘With the pandemic it might be the way that things things are going and I think certainly for actors with how things are going. It’s great, because there was a bunch of actors down there working. It was brilliant to see.’
