Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon is set to feature in a new ‘real life’ horror video game this Halloween, with players able to control his every move remotely.

Screamfest 4: The Kraken’s Revenge, created by Rockstar Games’ John Zurhellen, known for such classics as Grand Theft Auto IV, Manhunt 1 & 2, and Red Dead Redemption, will be the world’s first game to allow players to remotely issue commands to an actor and watch him respond in real-time on a live video link.

Using their smartphones or laptops, players will be able to steer Rheon’s character to safety with a single torch through a series of chilling rooms, claustrophobic cells, and dank hallways as he is chased by The Kraken’s nemesis, The Balthazoid.

The game will run over four high-octane evenings from Wednesday, October 21 until Saturday, October 31, with slots running throughout each day. Rheon will be ‘playable’ from 4pm – 6pm on October 28 and each player will get 10 minutes to remotely control the Welsh actor’s every action in the innovative horror experience.

The five-day event will also be streamed live, so those unable to get tickets to play will be able to watch via a live video link.

Filmed in a crypt in an old Victorian prison, players will be kept on the edge of their seat as they attempt to guide Rheon’s character through a maze of difficulties and dangers to escape The Balthazoid.

And it’s not just the players who will be left terrified from the unique experience, with Rheon, who played the evil Ramsey Bolton in Game of Thrones, admitting that he is already feeling anxious at the prospect of being chased through dark maze by the terrifying monster.

Using their smartphones or laptops, people will be able to remotely control every move of the Game of Thrones actor live as he is pursued by a horrific creature through a nightmarish real location

“It’s going to be really creepy,” Rheon told Buzz.ie as he gears up take part in this one-of-a-kind game. “It’s all dark corridors and cells and really intense and weird props.

“I’ll be at the mercy of people controlling my every move online, sending me from room to room while I’m hunted by a monster. I do wonder how many Kraken fans will send me to my doom and how many will save me!”

“My main bit of advice is please don’t make me meet The Balthazoid because it looks bloody scary, I’m actually going to be scared, so please be nice to me guys.”

With each player embarking on their own unique path in the game, Rheon says that he is equal parts terrified and excited at what people will have in store for him.

“There’s a sort of unknown element to it because I don’t necessarily know what the gamer will want to do so it’s an exciting thing as each one will be very, very different,” Rheon revealed.

“I think its something that could really take off in a variety of ways. Its a cool new concept that’s possible now and I’m really excited about it.

“I think its really a great idea and I’m looking forward to jumping into the prison and hopefully people will be nice to me. It sounds like I might need to go to therapy after this – I’m going to have PTSD coming out of there.”

Tickets are just €10, from Eventbrite, and that gets you a survival kit with the makings of two Perfect Storm cocktails and a pass to the game. You can also win the chance to control Rheon’s character by heading over to The Kraken’s Instagram page here.
