Well we love you, Ghost (Picture: HBO)

**Spoilers for Game Of Thrones season eight episode four.**

Jon Snow (Kit Harington) is king of the idiots this week after he sent Ghost packing north in Game Of Thrones.

But on the face of it, the 10/10 good boy was always too good for Jon, who never deserved such a loyal and legend mystical canine by his side.

The warrior Jon effectively stubbed a cigar in our eyes after he abandoned Ghost – who lost a flipping ear in the Battle Of Winterfell, may we add – to ride south with his new wench, sorry, lady, Daenerys Targaryen (we’re taking our sadness out on Dany, that’s not fair), played by Emilia Clarke.

Sending the Direwolf off with Tormund (Kristofer Hivju), the pupper was literally crying out for his master who saved him all those years ago in season one.

And what did Jon do? He just walked on.

Quite rightly the Internet was fuming at Jon’s cold indifference and pawing off at his right-hand-man.

He didn’t treat Samwell Tarley (John Bradley) this way, so why Ghost?

‘I’m sorry but Jon did not even hug Ghost goodbye. He does NOT deserve to be King #GameOfThrones,’ one fan wrote in response to this weeke’s episode.

‘We will all say what Jon couldn’t: You’re a good boy Ghost  #GameofThrones,’ another fumed.

‘Our little smoll boi is so hurt. #ghost #GameofThrones,’ one more viewer pointed out.

Think about it, Ghost was basically the animal version of Jon – an angsty teen who grew into a man after being cast aside as a ‘Bastard Stark’.

When the Stark kidlets happened upon the litter of Direwolf pups way back when in season one, each child got their own. Jon got runt Ghost (seeing as he was the ‘bastard) and wasn’t too pleased about it until he realised it meant he was included in the Stark wolf pack.

Ghost turned out to be just as respectable warrior as his dad, and this is how you betray him?

What Sansa (Sophie Turner) wouldn’t give to have Lady, who was executed on Cersei Lannister’s (Lena Headey) orders, back in her life? We bet Rob (Richard Madden) was pretty pissed Grey Wind was killed with the dog’s head placed on his own dead body after the Red Wedding. And while Arya (Maisie Williams) sent Nymeria away (because she knew she had to run free), you can imagine she’d give a lot to have the Direwolf back with her. Even Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) has lost his doggo, Summer.

Jon, do you not realise how lucky you are to have your mate by your side when all the Stark kids lost theirs?

Ghost has been nohing but a good boy (Picture: HBO)

While you may argue the guy just couldn’t bear to take his trusty fellow to King’s Landing where Direwolves don’t roam or feel at home, or even say goodbye because the parting is too horrible a sorrow, it’s just becoming more clear the guy otherwise known as Aegon Targaryen just didn’t deserve Ghost all along.

We’re talking a dog that is much smarter than its canine counterparts and much like dragons can sense things others can’t, can use its intuition to rule – much like Nymeria.

A dog who sat beside, literally lay there, by his master after Jon was stabbed and killed by his Castle Black comrades.

We thought the two were so tight there were even theories Jon and Ghost were one in the same. Something like that. It involved warging. Our minds cannot compute. But Ghost was the first one to sense Jon was coming back to life, that counts for something.

Remember even that time Ghost alerted a sleeping Jon to the zombies roaming around the Lord Commander’s Quarters in season one and epically saved his bacon in the process?

And what does he get? Giantsbane?!

Now Ghost is going to live with the Free People in the Land Of Always Winter – a place that is a pretty accurate description of our hearts right now.

It seems much like everything else Jon once held dear, the pull of Dany on his heartstrings has had a massive effect on his loyalties – with him appearing to go against Sansa and Arya’s recommendations on planning the King’s Landing attack, and now leaving Ghost behind. It’s just, like, Jon what are you playing at?

Before we get our knickers in a knot, perhaps this is all a clever ploy by showrunners to set something up for the final two episodes. Does it mean Jon isn’t going to breathe that sweet, sweet northern air again and knows it – so he’s sending Ghost away while he still can?

Or will Ghost meet him down in King’s Landing for one epic final battle and we’ve got misty eyes for no good reason.

Whatever happens, this week’s episode proved to us all Ghost wants to know is that he’s a good boy.

So much like the internet did last night, we’re here to tell you, Ghost, you’re the bestest of the boys.
