Kit Harington has admitted that he’s feeling a tad bit nervous ahead of the arrival of his second child with his former Game of Thrones co-star Rose Leslie.
The couple, who met on the blockbuster HBO drama playing lovers Jon Snow and wildling Ygritte, were married at her ancestral castle in Aberdeenshire in 2018.
Their son, whose name has not been publicly released, was then born in 2021.
When appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Friday, Kit, 36, shared the joyful news.
After the talkshow host checked in and asked about their now two-year-old son, Kit coyly revealed that the toddler was going to have a sibling soon.
‘He is about to get the shock of his life, which is that he’s about to get a brother or sister,’ he said.
As the audience started cheering and clapping, Jimmy, 48, was caught off guard and asked ‘are you serious?’.
Nodding, Kit confirmed he had another child on the way, before Jimmy congratulated him and they shook hands.
However, the actor then said he was ‘terrified’.
‘You know with the first baby, you’re like, walking on clouds and dancing through fields and daisies for nine months?’
‘Well the man is anyway,’ he added.
‘This time the reality check comes much shorter and you get practical, like, real quick.’
Although Kit saidthat he and Rose explained to their son that there was going to be a new baby soon, he ‘doesn’t quite conceptually understand it just yet’, he added.
‘We are trying to get him ready for it and we point at Rose’s belly and we say “Mummy’s baby, mummy’s baby” and he points at his tummy and goes, “My baby, my baby.”‘
But as he said, he’ll figure it out ‘soon enough’.
Kit’s decision to announce the news on TV came after he spoke last month about his reasoning for staying away from social media.
He said it all started when looking at reviews and comments about Game of Thrones, which he said ‘screwed with me’ and ‘damaged’ his confidence for a long time.
‘I think each to your own and some people probably find a lot of brilliant stuff in social media, but I think for an actor in a show like this, it’s the most dangerous thing,’ he said.
He added: ‘So…I’m not on social media, I had to step away from that stuff.’
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs on NBC in the US.
