Game Of Thrones’ Kit Harington has renamed himself the ‘loner throner’ after being given the fantasy series’ one and only nomination at this year’s Golden Globes.
The actor, who played fan favourite Jon Snow on the series, is now the sole representative for the series after every other actor, and the show itself, was snubbed from this year’s shortlist, which was announced yesterday.
Speaking after the nomination announcements, he’s joked he’s now going to book an entire table to himself in honour of his missing co-stars.
He told Hollywood Reporter: ‘I’m the “loner Throner”, it seems. I just imagine myself sitting down at a table all by myself as the “loner Throner!”’
‘Every time I go to say goodbye to this show, something comes along that reminds me of the story of it,’ he later added. ‘This is one of those moments.’
Kit has some stiff competition though if he’s to win the award, as he is up against Tobias Menzies (The Crown), Billy Porter (Pose), Brian Cox (Succession) and Rami Malek (Mr Robot).
Thanking the HFPA for the nomination, actor Kit said: ‘We spent a lot of years with this thing. Obviously, I dearly loved it. I loved every moment of it. I loved the character.
‘It’s a weird feeling, but I feel kind of happy for him, the character, if that makes sense.’
Playing down the show being mostly ignored from the line-up, Kit also praised his scene partners – particularly Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), who he was often seen with in the final season.
‘Obviously, I wanted everyone to be nominated, and I feel like they should, as anyone who loves their show and loves their cast and crew would feel and want,’ he said.
‘I’m happy for my nomination, and I’d love the show to be represented [more], but it won an Emmy, and it wasn’t nominated for a Globe. So I’ll represent the show on my own. I’ll do my best.’
Game Of Thrones is available now on DVD and Blu-Ray, and available to stream on NOW TV.
