It’s the million-dollar question which Game of Thrones fans worldwide will be asking themselves (and anyone else who’ll listen) when the show’s eighth and final season begins next month – just how is it all going to end?

Well, you can at least take comfort in learning that Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, went for a long time without knowing the ending, too.

Speaking ahead of the grand premiere on 14 April (that’s just a mere five weeks away now), Harington told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show this week that he was the last person on the cast to find out how it ends – because he was too lazy to read the scripts, obviously.

‘We had a table read and I was the one person who hadn’t read the episodes,’ Harington explained.

‘Everyone else had them like, three days before and read them and… I think I told everyone it was because I didn’t want to know what happened but I think it was just laziness that I didn’t read them.

‘Anyway, I got to the table read and they used me as a litmus test. [Creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss] were looking at me to see how the events unfolded, and they got some pretty good reactions,’ he said – adding that his reaction was filmed for some upcoming behind-the-scenes content.

And how did Kit react to being confronted with the end of GoT? He had a good cry, of course.

‘I was very shocked and surprised at certain events unfolding,’ he told Colbert. ‘And then I blubbed my eyes out. I cried. I cried, yeah.’

It’s gonna get emotional, people.
