Former Game Of Thrones star Kristofer Hivju has assured fans he’s in “good health”, after being diagnosed with coronavirus .
The Norwegian actor – best known for playing Tormund Giantsbane in six seasons of the hit fantasy show – revealed in an Instagram post on 16 Match that he was self-isolating at home with his family, after testing positive for COVID-19 .
Just under a month later, Kristofer has shared a health update with his followers, revealing he and his wife have “fully recovered”.

On April 10, the “Argo” actor urged his followers on Twitter to join the @FeedingAmerica Poker Tournament, which had already raised $1 million for Feeding America – the largest hunger-relief organization in the U.S. Earlier on March 15, he took to Instagram to express his concerns about “the most vulnerable populations.” He said: “During these times of uncertainty, I’m thinking about our most vulnerable populations – children who are losing access to the meals they rely on, our friends and family who are facing job disruptions, the elderly, and low-income families. Amal and George Clooney
The couple has donated more than $1 million of their personal funds towards coronavirus (COVID-19) relief. According to Deadline, they gave $250,000 each to the Motion Picture and Television Fund, the SAG-AFTRA Fund and the Los Angeles Mayor’s Fund. Clooneys also donated $300,000 to three international charities: the Lebanese Food Bank, the National Health Service (NHS) and the Lombardo Italy Region.

The singer has donated $1 million, which will be split between City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency Covid-19 Crisis Fund and the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund. Hilton family
The Hilton Foundation, established by Conrad N. Hilton – hotel entrepreneur and great-grandfather of Paris and Nicky Rothschild Hilton, has announced $10 million of additional funding to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. In a press release, the non-profit organization stated: “about half will go toward protecting the homeless population in Los Angeles, with the other half focused on helping African countries prepare for a pending outbreak.”
Brilliant Corners, California Community Foundation and United Way of Greater Los Angeles are the three organization that will address the homelessness issue in Los Angeles, and flexible grants will be provided to health care clinics. The African-focused grants will be divided between Shining Hope for Communities, Inc. (SHOFCO), the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Africa (in partnership with the King Baudouin Foundation United States) and The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The Irish rock band has donated €10 million (1.09 million $US) to source and buy personal protective equipment (PPE), and support healthcare workers to fight COVID-19 in Ireland. After collaboration with some private and public companies, the band sent a large consignment of medical supplies to Dublin, which included 40 ventilators. “This entire project was conceived and executed in just ten days,” said Emmet Moloney of Avolon, an Irish aircraft leasing company.

The singer is donating 100,000 face masks to four hospitals: Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Providence Saint Joseph, LAC+USC Medical Center, and Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital. “Every single day I am in awe of the medical workers on the frontlines. Their determination, selflessness and empathy is the single greatest example of our capacity to love and survive as humans. I am beyond privileged to be self isolating in my home, without the fear and obligation of essential work employment. Without a sick family member to care for. A child to feed. A financial crisis to navigate. So I tried to find a real way to make a difference,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

The founder of Twitter and payment app Square will donate $1 billion to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. He made the announcement in a Twitter post that read: “I’m moving $1B of my Square equity (~28% of my wealth) to #startsmall LLC to fund global COVID-19 relief. After we disarm this pandemic, the focus will shift to girl’s health and education, and UBI. It will operate transparently.” A Google Doc set up by Dorsey to reveal his donations states that he also contributed $100,000 to America’s Food Fund, which provides food to those in need during the crisis, on April 2.
Leonardo DiCaprio
The actor collaborated with philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs, Apple and the Ford Foundation to launch America’s Food Fund and raise $15 million, which will support two food charities – World Central Kitchen (WCK) and Feeding America. The initiative is aimed at helping families with low incomes, those who have lost their jobs across the U.S., and the elderly and children sustaining on free school meals. In its first day, the fund raised $12.6 million, which included $5,000,000 by DiCaprio and Jobs, $5,000,000 by Apple, and $1,000,000 each from Oprah Winfrey and the Ford Foundation.

The rapper donated 20,000 bottles of OWYN, a plant-based vegan meal supplement drink, to the medical staff and ambulance crews in New York City, New York, U.S. In addition to this, proceeds from a remix titled “Coronavirus,” featuring her voice, will be donated to workers who are financially hurt. “YES !THATS WHAT WE GOING TO DO ! (sic) Keep in mind you don’t get your money right away …but even months from now there would be families with financial issues for getting laid off due to the virus .We will Donate !” she tweeted on March 18.
Neymar
The Brazil national team and Paris Saint-Germain footballer donated a sum of $1 million to fight the pandemic in his native Brazil, according to TV network SBT. While a portion of the money will be donated to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the rest will be given to a charitable fund initiated by his friend Luciano Huck, a Brazilian TV presenter.
Jeff Bezos
The Amazon CEO would be donating $100 million to Feeding America, a hunger-relief organization. Making the announcement on Instagram on April 2, he wrote: “Even in ordinary times, food insecurity in American households is an important problem, and unfortunately COVID-19 is amplifying that stress significantly.” He added: “Today, I want to support those on the front lines at our nation’s food banks and those who are relying on them for food with a $100 million gift to @FeedingAmerica. Feeding America will quickly distribute the funds to their national network of food banks and food pantries, getting food to those countless families who need it.”
Oprah Winfrey
The television mogul has donated $10 million to coronavirus relief efforts. In multiple Twitter posts on April 2, she wrote: “I am donating $10 million overall to help Americans during this pandemic in cities across the country and in areas where I grew up.” She added: “I believe that America’s Food Fund will be a powerful way to make a difference for our neighbors in need and am committing $1 million to this fund to support those facing food insecurity. I was struck by the work these organizations are doing and while everyone’s priority right now is to stay safer at home, I know there are many of us looking for ways to help.”

The singer will be helping the doctors and nurses at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, California, U.S. On March 31, she tweeted: “So thankful for every single medical professional who is putting their health on the line to take care of others. I’m donating to @CedarsSinai as they are low on masks and ventilators. They’ve taken such good care of me so it’s my turn to show my gratitude.” In 2017, Gomez underwent a kidney transplant operation at this hospital and in October the following year, she reportedly checked into the mental health treatment center here as she was struggling with anxiety and depression.
New England Patriots
The team used its private plane to transport 1.2 million N95 masks from China to Boston, Massachusetts, U.S. Charlie Baker, the state’s governor, posted a picture of the plane being loaded with the protective equipment on Twitter and wrote: “No days off. Thanks to some serious teamwork, Massachusetts is set to receive over 1 million N95 masks for our front-line workers. Huge thanks to the Krafts and several dedicated partners for making this happen.” Baker worked with the team and its owner Robert Kraft to get the supplies from China.

The Grammy-winning country singer has donated a sum of $1 million to help aid coronavirus research at the Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S. In a statement posted on Instagram, she wrote, “My longtime friend Dr. Naji Abumrad, who’s been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards research of the coronavirus for a cure. I am making a donation of $1 million to Vanderbilt towards that research and to encourage people that can afford it to make donations.”

SKIMS, the shapewear line owned by Kardashian, announced a donation of $1 million to families of those affected by the novel coronavirus disease. In a statement, she said, “To support Mothers and Children in need during this time, SKIMS is committed to donating $1M to families affected by COVID-19.”
Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan
The Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative, the charitable group headed by the Facebook CEO and his wife, has donated $25 million to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to help explore possible COVID-19 treatments. In an exclusive interview with “CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King, Chan said: “I’m really proud to share that CZI’s gonna be joining Gates and others to put together something they’re calling the ‘therapeutics accelerator to fight coronavirus.” Zuckerberg added: “So you can basically take all those drugs that have already been screened as safe and test them to see if they might also have a positive impact for either preventing the coronavirus, or reducing the symptoms and making it less damaging.”
Jelena and Novak Djokovic
The tennis star and his wife are donating €1 million ($1.12 million) from the Novak Djokovic Foundation for the purchase of ventilators and other medical equipment to fight the COVID-19 outbreak in Serbia. “Jelena, I, my foundation, have decided to gather as much relevant information as possible this week to determine how best to donate our resources – knowledge, time, money, how it will affect the largest number of people across Serbia,” he said on sportklub.rs.
Ralph Lauren
The Ralph Lauren Corporate Foundation will donate $10 million for causes related to COVID-19. “At the heart of our company, there has always been a spirit of togetherness that inspires our creativity, our confidence, and most importantly our support for one another. In the past weeks and months, that spirit has never wavered. We believe that no matter who you are or where you are from, we are all connected. That is why we are taking significant action to help our teams and communities through this crisis,” Lauren wrote in a release.
Conor McGregor
The UFC star donated personal protective equipment for staff in several hospitals treating coronavirus patients in his native Ireland. McGregor’s contribution in fighting the pandemic was revealed after he shared screenshots of his Twitter direct message exchange with Paschal Donohue, the Irish Minister for Finance. “Today I am purchasing myself €1million euro worth of personal protective equipment to be deployed to all the fighting hospitals in the Leinster region,” he wrote to Donohue on March 25.
Angelina Jolie
The Oscar-winning actress donated $1 million to an organization named No Kid Hungry, which helps feed children who rely on school meals. “As of this week, over a billion children are out of school worldwide because of closures linked to coronavirus,” Jolie, 44, said in a statement. “Many children depend on the care and nutrition they receive during school hours, including nearly 22 million children in America who rely on food support. No Kid Hungry is making resolute efforts to reach as many of those children as possible,” she added. Jolie has also contributed to the UN Refugee Agency and to the schools in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Kenya and Namibia.
Roger Federer
The 20-time Grand Slam champion and his wife Mirka contributed 1 million Swiss Francs for the vulnerable families of Switzerland. The tennis star tweeted, “These are challenging times for everyone and nobody should be left behind. Mirka and I have personally decided to donate one million Swiss Francs for the most vulnerable families in Switzerland. Our contribution is just a start. We hope that others might join in supporting more families in need. Together we can overcome this crisis! Stay healthy.”

The reality TV star donated $1 million through her OB-GYN to buy masks, protective gear and other personal protective equipment for health care workers who are fighting the virus from the frontline. Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi took to Instagram to thank Jenner. She wrote, “I am speechless, my eyes are filled with tears of joy and my heart is overwhelmed with gratitude. One of my patients, a beautiful Living Angel just donated $1,000,000 to help us buy hundreds of thousands of masks, face shields, and other protective gear which we will have delivered directly to our first responders, as too many masks at hospitals are disappearing before making their way onto the faces of our front line heroes.”
Shawn Mendes
Through his charity, The Shawn Mendes Foundation, the singer donated $175,000 to the SickKids Foundation in Toronto, Ontario, for pediatric care and purchase of medical equipment. The actor said in a statement, “By making this donation to SickKids, we hope to help provide support in the urgent screening and prevention of COVID-19 for their patients and the surrounding community of Toronto. For the next month, we will be directing all donations to The Shawn Mendes Foundation to go towards additional efforts by SickKids, as well as efforts being made internationally by the World Health Organization COVID-19 Response Fund.”

The actor and former California governor helped set up a GoFundMe page called the “Frontline Responders Fund” to provide medical professionals with critical supplies. He also donated $1 million to the fund. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO acquired ventilators from China and got them to shipped to Los Angeles, California, U.S. He wrote on Twitter: “Yup, China had an oversupply, so we bought 1255 FDA-approved ResMed, Philips & Medtronic ventilators on Friday night & airshipped them to LA. If you want a free ventilator installed, please let us know!”
Lionel Messi
The Argentina national team and Barcelona star has donated €1 million (approximately $1.08 million) to Hospital Clínic in Barcelona, Spain, and another in his native Rosario, Argentina, ESPN reported. “Leo Messi donates for the fight against #COVID-19 at Hospital Clínic. Thank you, Leo, for your commitment and support,” Hospital Clínic said in a tweet.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Jorge Mendes
The Portuguese footballer and his agent have donated €1 million to finance intensive care units in Santo Antonio Hospital in Porto and Santa Maria hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. Daniel Ferro, president of Santa Maria, said, “We were contacted by Jorge Mendes, who volunteered with Cristiano Ronaldo to finance two intensive care units for critical patients suffering from COVID-19. There are fans, monitors, infusion pumps, beds … all the equipment that constitutes an intensive care unit equipped to provide care to a COVID-19 patient.”

The Manchester City manager extended monetary help of €1 million to the Angel Soler Daniel Foundation, which will invest the amount in medical equipment. “The donation campaign promoted by the Colegio de Doctors de Barcelona and managed through the Angel Soler Daniel Foundation aims to collect medical material and financial contributions from collegiate doctors and the general population for the purchase of medical equipment and equipment that is currently lacking in health centers in Catalonia,” a statement read.

The couple made a donation of $1 million to two charities – Feeding America and Food Banks Canada. Reynolds posted on Instagram: “Covid-19 has brutally impacted older adults and low income families. The Oscar-winning director (L) and the member of pop group BTS have extended aid of over $164,000 to help South Korea in their efforts to fight the disease. They contributed over $82,000 each to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association. The organization confirmed that the money will be utilized to buy and distribute face mask and hand sanitizers for people in need.

Supporting the decision of shutting down schools, the couple also expressed their concerns over children’s dependency on meals offered by the schools. The NBA star and his wife declared on Twitter that they have joined hands with a food bank to distribute 1 million meals to more than 18,000 Oakland students who rely on schools for more than two meals daily.

Calling it “unprecedented times,” the singer and the American footballer for Seattle Seahawks announced on Instagram about their contribution of 1 million meals to Seattle’s Food Lifeline. They also urged people to come together and extend support to the local food bank Feeding America.

The Chinese business tycoon has donated one million masks and 500,000 testing kits to the U.S. On March 16, he shared a picture of the arrival of the first shipment from Shanghai, China, on Twitter. Ma has also donated medical supplies to other parts of the world such as Europe, Iran and Africa.

The NFL player and his wife, who is a professional soccer player, donated $350,000 to the Houston Food Bank. ESPN reporter Adam Schefter took to Twitter to inform his followers that the donation would help distribute “over one million meals” to the needy.

The American basketball player for the New Orleans Pelicans announced on Instagram that he will be covering the salaries of all Smoothie King Center workers for the coming 30 days. Italian influencer and her husband Fedez donated $1,07,540 to the GoFundMe campaign to help hospitals that were treating patients infected with coronavirus. The funds were especially used to buy new beds for the intensive care unit at the San Raffaele hospital.

The host of “The Tonight Show” made a donation to Feeding America. On March 15, he wrote on Twitter: “Right now I’m thinking about what we can do to help our most vulnerable populations – children who are losing the one meal they may rely on per day, our friends and family who are facing job issues, the elderly, and low-income families.”
Lady Gaga’s Haus Laboratories
On March 17, the singer-songwriter’s makeup brand revealed that it would donate 20 percent of last week’s profits to the LA Regional Food Bank and the Food Bank for New York City. The brand tweeted: “HAUS will be giving back by donating to @lafoodbank & @foodbank4nyc in order to get food to those affected by the closing of schools & other places that offer this critical resource.”

The Grammy-winning artist joined hands with Love Beyond Walls, a non-profit organization, to collect and distribute 15 portable hand-washing stations, filled with water and hand sanitizers, throughout Atlanta, U.S., in areas which have a higher number of homeless people. In an effort to help the city he lives in, Lecrae said: “I wanted to continue doing the same stuff that I have been doing just in any city I’ve lived in and that’s just being close to the disenfranchised and the marginalized communities.”

The “Modern Family” actor and his partner Lindsay Schweitzer donated 200,000 meals to the Harvesters Community Food Network of Kansas City, Missouri, U.S. He tweeted: “Lindsay and I love our hometown and want to help do what we can. I’m only posting this to maybe motivate you to do what you can, when you can, if you can, to help vulnerable families in our community during this time.”

The shutdown due to the pandemic has impacted the support staff of the entertainment industry, including assistants, PAs, coordinators and readers. Entertainment organizations such as #PayUpHollywood, Scriptnotes and Junior Hollywood Radio & Television Society have come together to set up the Hollywood Support Staff COVID-19 Relief Fund. They have raised more than $330,000, as of March 19. The donors who have extended support includes screenwriters Shonda Rhimes, Jonathan Nolan, John August, and Lisa Joy.

The American star took to Instagram to announce that her beauty company Honest will donate 3 million diapers, 20,000 personal care products and 30,000 wipes to baby2baby – a non-profit organization that provides basic necessities to children living in poverty. She wrote: “Snuggling with my littles feeling grateful and emotional as we’ve been adjusting to this new normal – I can’t help but think of all the families with babies & young children who aren’t getting what they need to get by.”
Justin Bieber
The Canadian singer and songwriter announced that he made a $29,000 donation to the Beijing Chunmiao Charity Foundation to help children affected by the coronavirus outbreak. On Feb. 13, Bieber shared on Instagram: “China we stand with you as a collective humanity and have made a donation to support. Whether it be this or the fires of Australia we all need to be there for each other.”

The “Frozen 2” actress took to Instagram to announce her family’s contribution of $150,007.96 to No Kid Hungry. Bell also revealed that her daughters also contributed. She said: “The reason the number is odd, is because when my kids overheard me making the donation, they asked if they could also donate the money from their piggy bank. I couldn’t have been prouder to add that extra, and important 7 dollars and 96 cents.”

The couple contributed $1 million to assist relief efforts in New York. A source told People magazine that a portion of the aid will be granted to the New York Governor’s Office to buy of ventilators required on an urgent basis, and the rest towards WIN, New York City’s largest provider of shelter.

The pop star has pledged $5 million through her non-profit, the Clara Lionel Foundation, to help healthcare professionals and at-risk populations in the U.S. and other countries such as Haiti and Malawi. “Never has it been more important or urgent to protect and prepare marginalized and underserved communities-those who will be hit hardest by this pandemic,” Justine Lucas, the executive director of the NGO, said in a statement.
JAY-Z
The rapper joined hands with Rihanna and the duo have donated $2 million for coronavirus relief efforts in both New York City and Los Angeles. Along with Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF), JAY-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation (SCF) will provide support to everyone from undocumented workers, incarcerated people as well as the homeless and elderly and the kids of frontline healthcare workers. CLF had earlier donated $5 million for the cause.

In the post announcing his diagnosis last month, Kristofer urged his fans to take precautions to prevent the spread of coronavirus .
“ There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis, so I urge all of you to be extremely careful,” he said.
“Wash your hands, keep distance from others, go in quarantine; just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading.”
