Many know her as Cersei Lannister from HBO’s Game of Thrones, but Lena Headey has plenty of new projects in the works since ending her reign as queen of Westeros. That’s to be expected since she’s juggling her acting career with running her own production company, Peephole Productions. And according to Deadline, she’ll will be producing a new animated miniseries for the company’s Kids & Family division: an adaptation of Christian McKay Heidicker’s middle grade novel, Scary Stories for Young Foxes.
Centered on two young foxes who are separated from their litters, Scary Stories for Young Foxes will see Mia and Uly attempting to survive a spooky world full of monsters as they make their way home. Their journey is told in eight separate parts, with a single theme running through all of them: the impact of scary stories.
Headey is co-producing the miniseries with Boat Rocker Studios, which signed a first-look agreement with Peephole Productions last year. In addition to serving as executive producer alongside the book’s author, the actress has also been slated to voice one of the characters in the animated show — though it hasn’t been revealed who she’ll be portraying just yet.
Headey is particularly excited about partaking in this project, as she’s a strong believer there’s a market for horror stories for children:
“During our first meeting at Boat Rocker I was asked what I was interested in, and we started talking about horror for kids, how there is a space for this, and not to shy away from putting stuff out there that’s dark and smart. Kids aren’t daft — they know when we’re holding back the scary bits, so I’m so happy to be part of a great team to bring Christian’s book to life in a way that feels authentic.”
There’s no word on when we might see the adaptation, or where it will be available to watch. Still, it gives young horror fans something to look forward to — and there’s always the book to read in the meantime!
