With Game of Thrones‘ eighth and final season around the corner, the actors are all on the promo trail to get us hyped up for the return to Westeros.

While HBO has probably drilled it into them that they’ll get in big, big trouble if they drop any spoilers, due to the sheer amount of interviews everyone does, we wouldn’t be surprised if someone somewhere along the line lets one slip.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Maisie Williams dropped a HUGE spoiler about Arya Stark’s ultimate fate, before realising what she’d done, asking the audience not to tweet what they’d heard and looking like she was about to break out in tears.

Obviously it’s an April Fools’ Day prank, but thanks to the Power of Acting they almost had us going.

Of course, this could be a twisted, roundabout way of Maisie making us think that Arya doesn’t die in episode two of the upcoming season when she actually does. Are we onto something, or have we been spending too much time down the fan theory well?

Recently, one of the show’s stars stated that he tried to avoid all spoilers while he was working on the show – but someone went and ruined that for him.

Once Thrones wraps up, Maisie has said that she intends to take a break from the spotlight, although her plans may be ruined by the delayed release of her X-Men spin-off The New Mutants.

Game of Thrones season 8 will premiere on April 14, 2019. The show airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK. Season 7 is now available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray or digital download.
