After seven years of playing Arya Stark on Game Of Thrones, Maisie Williams has bid farewell to her feisty alter ego.

Taking to social media, the 21-year-old actress shared a snap of her bloody trainers with her 7.7 million Instagram followers, possibly hinting her character meets a gruesome end on the final season of the HBO fantasy series.

‘Goodbye Belfast. Goodbye Arya. Goodbye Game of Thrones,’ she captioned the post. ‘What a joy I’ve had. Here’s to the adventures to come.’

Her post and accompanying hashtags ‘#lastwomanstanding #barely #immasleepforthenextfouryears #justkiddingidontsleep’ sent many of her fans into a tailspin, with one writing: ‘Last woman standing? Is this supposed to be some spoiler.’

Another came up with theory that ‘she is going to survive the night king and become the queen’.

While many of Maisie’s followers were busy analysing the image, others took to the comment section to congratulate her on a job well done.

‘I can’t imagine wrapping up something that not only has been a part of your life for so many years but the family and the empire you all have built. We appreciate it all! Congratulations, love,’ one fans said.

Another added: ‘You made an overwhelming performance. I am excited to see you acting in further movies/shows!’

Earlier this year Maisie, who has played Ned Starks’ feisty daughter since the show’s inception, revealed she had given her mother the ultimate spoiler.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in February, she revealed that she had sent her the scripts after initially taunting her.

When Kimmel asked whether she was allowed to give out such sensitive material she admitted that it may not have been a good idea.

“Probably not. They [producers] said ‘don’t give them to anyone,’” Maisie said, before adding that she had created a monster.

‘My mum is tweeting out “I know the end of Game of Thrones.’”

Game Of Thrones season 8 is set to release in 2019.
