Arya Stark has come a long way since she was left to fend for herself as a child, pretending be a young boy before going blind – eventually regaining her sight back – to become the fearless warrior she is today.
However, it appears the ‘little rascal’ should have met her grisly end back in season six, if Maisie Williams’ latest revelation is anything to go by.
The 21-year-old Bristolian is gearing up for Game of Thrones’ final chapter, slated for release next year, but Maisie has revealed she either wasn’t supposed to be in it or the last two seasons of the HBO epic were never meant to happen at all.
Appearing on The Disruptive Entrepreneur podcast, Maisie – founder of the Daisie app – spilled that she was only contracted for six seasons – but, then, who could possibly have predicted the colossal phenomenon Game of Thrones would become all those years ago?
‘At the beginning, I would have paid them for me to be in it – I was so excited,’ she beamed.
Maisie also remembered the very moment she knew Game of Thrones had suddenly become the biggest show in the world and she was quite literally a global star while attending the season 3 premiere.
‘I remember getting out of the car with my mum and there were just like crowds and crowds of people behind barriers and they were all screaming and they all knew who I was,’ she recalled.
‘It was that moment that I was like “oh, this is pretty big.”’
She added: ‘I looked at my mum and said, “My life is never going to be the same again.”’
And it’s safe to say she was pretty bang on the money.
Maisie’s interview comes after she recently appeared on BBC Radio One to tease a new ‘power couple’ in season eight, and delighted all of us willing to hold our hands up to having a sick crush on The Night King – don’t pretend you’re not one of them – that the man behind the monster is indeed ‘fit in real life’.
Game of Thrones season 8 returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2018.
