Maisie Williams has revealed what went down when Queen Elizabeth II paid a visit to the Game Of Thrones set back in 2014.

The actress, who played the legendary warrior Arya Stark on the HBO fantasy series, admitted that her majesty decided not to sit on the iconic Iron Throne and noted that it didn’t look that inviting to take a pew.

‘She didn’t necessarily refuse no one said, “Sit on that chair because it is going to be funny,”‘ Maise recalled.

‘We all just sort of smiled and were like, “Is she going to do it?”‘

Maisie added to host Sean Evans on the popular YouTube series First We Feast: ‘She sort if looked at it and said, “That doesn’t look very comfortable.”‘

The Queen and Prince Philip visited the Game Of Thrones set, situated at The Paint Hall Studios, on the second day of their visit to Northern Ireland five years ago.

They met members of the crew and cast, including Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, and were also gifted a small replica of the programme’s iconic Iron Throne as a memento.

Show creator David Benioff later explained to Seth Meyers why the Queen had declined to take a sit on the infamous prop.

‘Apparently the Queen of England is not allowed to sit on a foreign throne,’ he said.

‘This is an esoteric rule we didn’t know about until that moment.’

It is, however, believed that this is a sign of respect to foreign leaders rather than a concrete rule.

Elsewhere in the interview, Maisie revealed that she performed all her stunts with her left hand despite being right-handed in order to stay true to the novels.

Game Of Thrones is available to stream on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
