***Warning: Game Of Thrones season 8 episode 2 spoilers ahead***

There are several shocking moments coming out of the latest episode of Game Of Thrones – but Arya Stark’s (Maisie Williams) sudden sexploits with Gendry (Joe Dempsie) might have topped them all.

After being shipped together by fans way back in the earlier seasons, the sexual tension was pretty obvious to everyone as the show returned for season eight.

Reunited after years apart, it turns out their flirty banter didn’t take long to move into something a bit more physical, and nothing works as foreplay better than making weapons together.

Before the end of the episode, they jumped into bed together – marking the first time in the show’s run that Arya has experienced sex, or behaved in a sexual manner.

(She was too busy killing people to worry about that – but it appears Gendry was hard to resist.)

The scenes not only shocked fans, but sent them to Google, curious of her age after watching her grow from a small child.

Speaking about the moment after the episode aired, 22-year-old Maisie admitted she was just as shocked as the rest of us with the latest development.

‘At first, I thought it was a prank. I was like, “Yo, good one,”’ she joked, admitting that Sophie Turner (who plays sister Sansa Stark) was the first to tell her after reading the scripts faster than her.

While she was initially scared of shooting the nudity scenes, Maisie praised the showrunners Dan ‘D.B.’ Weiss and David Benioff for putting her at ease.

‘David and Dan were like: “You can show as much or as little as you want”,’ she continued to Entertainment Weekly. ‘So I kept myself pretty private. I don’t think it’s important for Arya to flash. This beat isn’t really about that.’

So what happens now for Arya now it appears that she has a lot more to lose in light of the new episodes airing?

‘This is something she’s stayed away from, an emotion we’ve never really seen her engage with. David and Dan were like, “It’s the end of the world, what else would you have her do?”,’ she explained.

‘This may be is a moment where Arya accepts death tomorrow, which she never does. It’s interesting to see Arya be a bit more human, speak more normally about things people are scared of.’

Game Of Thrones continues Sundays on HBO and Sky Atlantic.
