Sansa became the Queen Of The North in the season eight finale (Picture: HBO)

Game Of Thrones might have ended two months ago but fans are still discovering small details peppered throughout the final season.

While many fans have expressed criticism towards the final season’s lack of attention to detail, there was some impressive quirks to be found within the opening credits of each episode.

Each episode of season eight subtly altered the opening titles to reflect show events, with blue tiles showing the approaching White Walker army and the structure of Winterfell also changing to reflect damage caused from battle.

Redditor farrukhsshah has since discovered another teaser hidden within the opening titles for season finale episode The Iron Throne – showing a crack dividing the North and South kingdoms of Westeros.

[Spoilers] The crack that appeared on the map of Westeros during the Battle of King’s Landing foreshadowed the eventual split between the North and South Kingdoms from gameofthrones

The crack was shown visibly in the episode as Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) wandered through the Red Keep, before he discovered siblings Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Cersei (Lena Headey) had died in the battle for King’s Landing.

This crack, however, holds bigger significance for events later in the finale. After Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) is appointed the new King of Westeros, his sister Sansa makes a point of her desire to separate the North from the South, as she’s appointed Queen Of The North.

This divide in the map is essentially believed to have been a precursor to this decision, which is (at least) a cool detail among all the negativity.

The cast of Game Of Thrones recently responded to fan criticism of the final season at San Diego Comic-Con, expressing their ‘surprise’ at the reaction.

Despite the backlash, Game Of Thrones broke records recently with a staggering 32 nominations at this year’s Emmys.

Game Of Thrones is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
