Warning: Contains spoilers for Game Of Thrones.
Game Of Thrones season eight represents the grand culmination of the TV fantasy phenomena, but there’s still some missing pieces yet to be addressed following the first two episodes.
The show has delivered a number of heartwarming reunions and unexpected clashes in the first two episodes, as the (fairly) united houses prepare to battle the White Walkers at Winterfell.
While the likes of Daenerys, Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, Arya Stark, are all on regular rotation for screen-time – there’s a number of characters whose fate has yet to be addressed. But will they be answered? Here’s who is yet to make a possible appearance.
Melisandre
One of the most key characters yet to appear is Melisandre, the Red Priestess who is often heard banging on about the Lord Of Light.
In the seventh season, she ventured away from Westeros to Volantis but promised she would return ‘one last time’ to face her end. Considering she’s been instrumental in the mystical side of Game Of Thrones, having revived Jon Snow, she’s undoubtedly set to play a key part in events to come.
The Night King
Alright, we know the Night King is definitely on the playing field somewhere, but we’ve yet to actually see the White Walker leader on-screen at all in season eight.
While he’s expected to appear at the battle for Winterfell, considering he hasn’t been shown near the battle in the teasers, could he have alternative plans to head directly to King’s Landing?
Edmure Tully and Robin Arryn
A cast list for season eight featured Tobias Menzies as Edmure Tully and Lino Facioli as Robyn Arryn before the show returned, but both have yet to make an appearance.
Edmure Tully is assumed to be still held captive by the Lannisters at Riverrun, having made his last appearance in season six.
Robin, meanwhile, was last seen in Runestone after being fostered by Lord Yohn Royce in season six. He’s been receiving training from Royce in archery and other skills, so could he have, somehow, become an adept fighter?
We wouldn’t bet on it, to be honest.
Daario Naharis
This heartthrob was last seen in season six after Daenerys ended their romance to head to Westeros, seeing him as a potential detriment to her cause.
He was left in Mereen to oversee the transition of power there, and it’s unknown if he could make a potential return in the eighth season.
Meera Reed
Last seen in season seven, Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick) returned to Greywater Watch after bringing Bran to Winterfell – who wasn’t exactly thankful towards her.
It’s unknown whether this is the last we’ve seen of Meera, but actress Ellie Kendrick told Metro.co.uk how she’d yet to receive ‘the call’ about filming back in 2017 – so maybe this could be the last we’ve seen of Bran’s carrier.
Hot Pie
The only heir to the throne in our eyes is Hot Pie. He’s technically still alive somewhere too, last being seen in season seven telling Arya to head to Winterfell post haste.
So could the entire show wrap with Arya relishing killing Cersei by feasting on a delicious pie? This is the ending we deserve.
Game Of Thrones season eight continues on Sundays on HBO and Sky Atlantic. Seasons one to seven are available on NOW TV.
