The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance is finally here.
And while Rocketman star Taron Egerton, who plays Rian in the prequel, excitedly spoke about there being ‘lot’s of singing’ in the show, it seems his fellow castmates weren’t as keen on the idea of showing off their vocal cords.
Especially while singing in another language!
When chatting to Metro.co.uk, Game Of Thrones stars Hannah John-Kamen and Nathalie Emmanuel explained how their Dothraki skills helped them when it came to voicing their characters Naia and Deet.
Hannah divulged: ‘I guess we have done Dothraki and Game Of Thrones, so I guess learning a different language… I thought it was fun!’
Nathalie looked over at her buddy and smiled: ‘We do have a bit of experience.’
Discussing the scene where we first hear Hannah sing, she beamed: ‘It was nice, and you see the moment as well.’
Don’t worry, no spoilers here – but it is a moment, so be prepared with all the tissues!
‘I’m not the most confident singer in the world… It’s not my pass time,’ Nathalie joked.
‘I mean I shut the house down in the shower, but in front of people, it’s not my strongest thing. So when I saw it, I was like, “oh okay I have to do some singing in a different language.”’
She raised her eyebrows before letting out a laugh.
But it appears the cast threw themselves into their roles, as just like us, they are huge fans of the original movie.
‘The Dark Crystal is to me, bigger [than Marvel],’ Hannah confessed: ‘It’s my childhood and it’s such a classic, I feel very excited to be a part of it.’
But it seems the greatness of the show took its toll in the studio, however, as the 30-year-old had all the nerves on her first-day recording.
She said: ‘I was nervous on my first day, I remember I was like, “let’s warm up to this and discover who she is.” We were in no rush but I remember being nervous.’
Nathalie experienced the same feelings, and added: ‘With Deet, we would do a couple of episodes, and we found something nice, so we would go back and revisit previous episodes.
‘When we started Game Of Thrones we had all the episodes, and that’s not really the done thing, so I was grateful for that on this you can map her journey.’
