*Huge Game Of Thrones spoilers coming up so go away if you haven’t watched the final episode yet*
In the last ever episode of Game Of Thrones (yes, we are still analysing it), Westeros came as close as it probably ever will to having a democracy when a new ruler was chosen by a sort-of vote.
And so, Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) – now rather rudely known as Bran The Broken – was chosen to rule the Seven Kingdoms until the time comes to have another vote and pass on the mantle.
Just one problem… Bran might live for the next 1,000 years and we’re not too sure whether that’s a good or a bad thing.
Reddit user Flanyo pointed out the prospect when they realised the Three Eyed Raven before Bran had lived for a long, long time.
‘Didn’t the last 3 eyed Raven live for like 1,000 years?, [sic]’ they wrote. ‘So does that mean the Bran the Broken (what a stupid title) will be king for an extremely long time or until he’s killed like the last one?’
If this is true, then let’s all hope Bran is a good king. The citizens of Westeros have been through enough.
Other commenters weren’t too convinced Bran would last 1,000 years but that it would be a long time before the Three Eyed Raven would have to move on.
One theorist wrote: ‘Probably not a thousand years. It is somewhat hinted that the Three Eyed Raven might be Brynden “Bloodraven” Rivers which would make him only a few decades older than Maester Aemon.
‘Regardless the Three Eyed Raven’s body had been consumed by the roots of a weirwood tree, which is a good enough magical explanation to have such an extended life.’
Others thought that once Bran gets super old and dies, the Three Eyed Raven will seek out another greenseer to rule as king or queen.
Oliver_Klosov predicted: ‘He will forsee whom they choose as the next king and he will manipulate events to lead that person to him so he can “upload” to that person’s body.’
Fans of the show were famously unhappy with Bran being chosen as the new king, with many citing the young Stark’s reluctance to rule throughout the whole series as the main reason he shouldn’t have ended up on the Iron Throne.
When suggesting Bran to be the next ruler, Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) says to him: ‘I know you don’t want it. I know you don’t care about power. But I ask you now: if we choose you, will you wear the crown? Will you lead the Seven Kingdoms to the best of your abilities, from this day until your last day?’
Bran, with a hint of smile replies: ‘Why do you think I came all this way?’
Turns out the answer might be to take the crown and rule over Westeros until the end of time under the guise of a fairer voting system.
Terrifying…
