From a book series to a television adaptation, the Game of Thrones franchise has crossed major platforms. Aside from working on a new prequel, fans can experience the epic world that George R.R. Martin created through a new mobile game.
In collaboration with HBO and Behaviour Interactive, there will be a new mobile game coming to town, titled Beyond the Wall. “Now that the full televised story of Game of Thrones is complete, we are excited to launch a new gaming experience which will offer fans a deeper interaction with their favorite show,” HBO vice president of licensing and retail, Jeff Peters, said in a statement, via Digital Spy.
Behaviour Interactive creative director Justin Jones, on the other hand, said they wanted to give the show’s fans a unique experience from the very start; thus, they created this new mobile game. “We believe we’ve designed an experience that blends an original narrative, robust collection strategy and deep squad combat into a next-generation AAA game on mobile,” he added.
In Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall, fans can learn new stories about the epic fantasy world, revisit the old tales, and continue exploring life in Westeros. It is set hundreds of years ago before the television series occurred; at the time after Lord Commander Brynden Rivers went missing.
In the game, players can command the Night’s Watch to defend the realm and recruit characters from the Seven Kingdoms and beyond. They can also move through Westeros’ history through an in-game interface with the use of Weirwood trees’ magical powers.
Users can also collect different costumed versions of fan-favorite characters like Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Tormund Giantsbane, Jaime Lannister, and Melisandre. They can also use them in various gameplay modes, even in combat.
Meanwhile, aside from Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall mobile game, fans are also treated with a 90-meter tapestry that features an embroidered image of the Game of Thrones from Season 1 to 8, which is now on display at Ulster Museum in Belfast. It is an homage to the epic fantasy series that took 30 people to create, per NME.
The 90-meter tapestry depicts the show using glistening different colored threads. Guests can see a perfect representation of Joffrey’s golden crown and Daenerys’ white and silver hair, among others.
Its length is ideally crafted to tell how the Game of Thrones story unfolds from the beginning to end. The team is now working on the final season after completing Season 1 to Season 7.
