Game Of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has slammed his co-stars for ‘acting like divas’ in between takes on the fantasy series.
The actor, who played Jaime Lannister in the Westeros fantasy tale, revealed that some of his fellow stars had become known for throwing strops behind the scenes, especially when their outfits got too uncomfortable.
In an interview with The Times, Nikolaj refused to name any specific members of the huge cast, but couldn’t resist mocking those who moaned about life on set.
Putting on a voice, according to the publication, he declared: ‘“Oh, it’s too f***ing hot! I’m going to complain about this piece of s**t! Where do I sit?”’
Nikolaj went on to praise the late Dame Diana Rigg, who died in October 2020, and just like character Olenna Tyrell, had no time for nonsense.
He laughed: ‘You just didn’t mess with her.
‘She had so much bite in a very funny way, and you can’t win when somebody is funnier and cleverer than you.’
‘If you work with someone like that, you raise your game,’ Nikolaj explained, praising the actress who died in September at the age of 82.
‘You have to — she’s so good. But that last scene of hers was a great day. That was the only two-hander we had, which was a real privilege.
‘The writers really served her character well. She goes out on top and with dignity.’
Olenna Tyrell certainly didn’t go down without a fight, quietly manipulating those around her over the years in order to get her family back to power.
When she finally died, drinking poison given to her by Jaime, she called King Joffrey a c**t before confessing she killed him on his wedding day, to stop her granddaughter Margaery from being trapped as his wife.
What a way to go.
