Have the post-Con of Thrones blues got you down? Fear not, we have more prequel news coming your way to lift your spirits! Filming for the series, as of now titled Blood Moon, has moved on to Gaeta, Italy, and we have some wonderful shots from the set – including a costumed Naomi Watts – to share.
The Twitter account GoTlike Locations posted several photos showing filming prep taking place near the Grotta del Turco, including production vehicles and signage restricting access.

For S8 filming in Spain last year multiple G&H trucks and vans had come from Northern Ireland to Seville. For the #Bloodmoon filming in Gaeta it’s local equipment. AquaFilms UK however found their way to Italy. They have a lot to do here, so it seems… pic.twitter.com/KC4DSVcEM7

They also captured rehearsal underway in the waters near Grotta del Turco. We see rowers on a very Viking-esque boat, and someone who looks to be director SJ Clarkson.

Instagram user kiaruzz91_ was lucky enough to capture the below shot of Naomi Watts in all her golden glory – it appears that brunette wig didn’t belong to her after all. George R.R. Martin has said Blood Moon predates the Lannisters, but perhaps Watts is an ancester? That head to toe gold can’t be a coincidence, can it?
She also posted photos of the Grotta del Turco entrance with production signage and a vehicle with the Blood Moon logo in the window.
Finally, a new addition to the cast was spotted on set and identified by as Georgina Campbell. Her costume and hair display the Greco-Roman influence we’ve seen in previous set photos, and in the above shot of Watts. Campbell is best known for the British crime drama Broadchurch and SYFY’s Krypton. Campbell’s latest Instagram post confirms her location as Gaeta, Italy.
