Game of Thrones might have ended on a sore note, but technically, it still hasn’t ended. HBO has a lot of plans in mind for making a perfect Game of Thrones prequel. And they have found it in House of the Dragon! But, would Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington feature in it? After all, those two were the only two Targaryens alive in the show. So, let’s take a look!
What is House of the Dragon about?
As the name suggests, House of the Dragon focuses on the history of House Targaryen from Game of Thrones. It’s set from the time of Aegon’s Landing and is based on George RR Martin’s recent book from the Game of Thrones Universe, called Fire and Blood. It’s not a part of the A Song of Ice and Fire series but is one of two volumes from a separate series.
Initially, HBO had five separate ideas for a Game of Thrones spin-off. Initially, HBO settled on Blood Moon as the prequel, which was supposed to be based on the Long Night, which happened 8000 years before Game of Thrones. But, that was scrapped for House of the Dragon, set roughly 300 years before the series began. Miguel Sapochnik & Ryan Condal will work as the showrunner, who will work closely with George RR Martin on the Game of Thrones prequel.
But, will we be seeing any familiar face from Game of Thrones in the prequel? Or more specifically, will Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington feature in it as Jon and Dany?
Will Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington feature in this prequel?
Cutting to the chase, will our favorite incestuous couple feature in the prequel? Well, if we’re being honest, the chances are slim. The thing is that the prequel is set 300 years before the HBO series began. And for now, George RR Martin’s second volume from Fire & Blood hasn’t been released yet. So, we’re currently in the dark whether the timeline from Game of Thrones would overlap with House of the Dragon.
But, it is possible that Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington could get a cameo close to the ending of the Game of Thrones prequel, provided that it ends during that time period. If that happens, we might get a cute little scene of Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow (or Aegon Targaryen VI) riding dragons. Either that or the two could be cast as two different characters altogether. But, the chances for that are slim. But, I guess we can only get an idea of that when we finally set our eyes on the Game of Thrones prequel when it arrives in 2022.
