The hotly anticipated Game Of Thrones prequel is slated to start filming in Belfast later this year.

The Paint Hall studios in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter have apparently been informed that ‘their next major project will be a series set 1000 years before the events of the fantasy drama’ say the Belfast Telegraph.

They quote a source saying: ‘This is fantastic news for everyone at the studio – from the cast and the crew, right down to the riggers and the catering staff.’

Paint Hall was used as the main studio for the HBO drama, as well has other locations including Ballintoy Harbour and Shillanavogy Valley.

Game Of Thrones author George RR Martin has given the prequel the working title of The Long Night, but is subject to change as ‘HBO will want to work the phrase “Game Of Thrones” in there somewhere.’

Filming recently wrapped on the eighth and final season of the show, with cast and crew attending a wrap party in Belfast.

Star Sophie Turner recently dropped some details about the final season. Sophie, who plays Sansa Stark on the show, has revealed that fans are in for a ‘satisfying’ season eight.

And she’s aware of all your fan theories too, but thinks the show is going to surprise everyone with where the inhabitants of Westeros end up.

‘For me – without giving anything away, I guess – I was satisfied with how unpredictable the show’s ending really is,’ she told Digital Spy.

‘People have come up with so many fan theories about how it’s going to end, and who will end up where, and who will end up with who. It really is so unpredictable the way that it ends up. I’m very satisfied with that, and I think that the fans will be satisfied with that, too.’

So basically we know nothing.

Game Of Thrones is set to return in 2019.
