Game of Thrones fans have finally got a first look at the much-anticipated prequel series House of the Dragon with its first teaser trailer voiced by Matt Smith.
The HBO Max series is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen and the Targaryen civil war known as the “Dance of the Dragons.”
It has been confirmed that the 10-episode series will launch in 2022, and excitement for its debut is picking up pace after the trailer’s release.
Featuring sweeping coastline shots, jousting tournaments, feast scenes and of course plenty of battles, the teaser offers fans the chance to see some of the forthcoming series.
It also shows Matt Smith in his role as Daemon Targaryen, sporting a white blond hairdo and looking intently out to sea.
He also provides the voiceover, saying: “Gods… kings… fire… and blood. Dreams didn’t make us kings. Dragons did.”
Recently, the production was spotted filming on the Cornish coastline, where brutal items of weaponry were photographed in huge piles on the top of a cliff.
House of the Dragon is expected to be every bit as bloodthirsty as Game of Thrones and the trailer hints at violence, too, with scenes of fighting, swords and bones as well as fireballs engulfing the Targaryen family symbol.
The cast joining The Crown and Doctor Who star Smith for the series include Paddy Considine as King Viserys I Targaryen, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower and Olivia Cooke as his daughter, Alicent Hightower.
