The Game Of Thrones prequel is apparently set to start shooting in Belfast in 2019.

The Belfast Telegraph has previously revealed that Belfast’s Titanic Quarter could be used as the location for the prequel.

And while it was initially thought that work would start on it later this year, the new word on the street is that February 2019 is looking likely.

‘Production could begin as early as February,’ GWW has claimed.

While nothing has been confirmed by HBO, it does tie in with previous comments made by some of the people in charge.

Programming president at HBO Casey Bloys said at the Television Critics Association press tour that rumours of shooting starting at the end of the year aren’t true.

‘I don’t know where that report came from, we’re hoping to go into production in early ’19,’ Bloys said.

Meanwhile Game Of Thrones’ visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer gave a bit more detail to Huffington Post.

‘We’re going to be toiling away on [Game Of Thrones] season 8 until May of 209, so it’s eight or nine months away.

‘But the prequel is starting to shoot in February, at least the pilot.

‘So we’ll still have quite a lot to do on season 8 when they’re beginning.’

Star Sophie Turner recently dropped some details about the final season. Sophie, who plays Sansa Stark on the show, has revealed that fans are in for a ‘satisfying’ season eight.

And she’s aware of all your fan theories too, but thinks the show is going to surprise everyone with where the inhabitants of Westeros end up.

‘For me – without giving anything away, I guess – I was satisfied with how unpredictable the show’s ending really is,’ she told Digital Spy.

‘People have come up with so many fan theories about how it’s going to end, and who will end up where, and who will end up with who. It really is so unpredictable the way that it ends up. I’m very satisfied with that, and I think that the fans will be satisfied with that, too.’
