Naomi Ackie has spoken out on the cancellation of the Game Of Thrones prequel, which she was set to appear in.
The spin-off from Jane Goldman and George RR Martin was set thousands of years before the original fantasy series, which featured the likes of Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington.
However, fans have been left a little heartbroken after it was claimed that the project, named Bloodmoon, has been scrapped.
As for Naomi’s reaction to the news? Blowing a raspberry and giving us a thumbs down, she laughed: ‘Can you put that in [the article]?’
Yes, we can.
‘At the moment it’s not fully confirmed, but this stuff happens,’ she acknowledged to Metro.co.uk after presenting alongside Joe Cole at the BIFA nominations announcement.
‘It’s an industry in which things happen, things get put down, I’m just really excited about what is out there for me now. That was a great project, it didn’t work out. I’m ready to look for more stuff.’
The star added: ‘[I’m] taking it in my stride. This industry will throw you about left, right and centre so you’ve got to take it in your stride!’
Naomi Watts was set to star in the spin-off with the likes of John Simm, Miranda Richardson and Marquis Rodriguez also on the bill.
However, it’s not all bad news for GOT die-hards, as another spin-off is still in the works.
House Of The Dragon will focus on House Targaryen, the fiery and volatile family who Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) was in the lineage of over the course of the main series.
Casey Bloys, president of HBO programming made the series announcement at the launch of the HBO Max streaming platform in LA.
He said: ‘It’s my pleasure to announce today that we are ordering House of the Dragon straight to series for HBO.
‘It tells the story of House Targaryen and the early days of Westeros.’
Game Of Thrones is available to stream on Sky, HBO and NOW TV.
