Actually the Littlefinger/Cersei confrontation in the courtyard introduced 2 of GRRM's tenets of power. They are at the very core of GOT: Knowledge is power and power is power. Later he will introduce his 3rd tenet, that power is an illusion. In order to be a good player of the game one must use all of these tenets at any time in any combination, and be willing to wield them ruthlessly if necessary. Adhering to any one or two, favoring one over the others, misusing them, or even poor timing in their usage will find your head rolling across the floor.
