Game of Thrones proper is finished, but I imagine we’ll be turning the story over in our heads for a good long while. What if this were done differently? What if that was changed? What if the whole show was delivered in a completely different way, like through musical numbers or in animation?

For a Game of Thrones musical, I suggest you consult your local theater scene. But for a look into what a Game of Thrones animated series may have been like, you can turn to illustrator and concept artist Carolina Oliveira, who for the last two years has been rendering key moments from the show as though they were part of a Japanese anime. Take a look below to see Game of Thrones as it never was:

I like the scenes Oliveira chose to illustrate. Rather than go for the slam-bang show-stopping moments, she mostly picks smaller-scale scenes between characters. For the bombastic Game of Thrones anime that never was, I recommend this take:

Either way, neither of these are coming to a screen near you anytime soon…probably. Let’s give the public a chance to miss the show for a while before we start rebooting it. In the meantime, you can see even more of Oliveira’s work on her ArtStation page.
