Could Khal Drogo return in season eight? (Picture: HBO)

The cast of Game Of Thrones past and present have reunited for a TV special with Conan O’Brien, but it has thrown up questions over a past set visit from Jason Momoa.

Sean Bean recently confirmed a TV special is in the pipeline which will reunite the whole cast in Belfast, presumably set to be released around the final season’s launch next year.

As Vanity Fair points out, it’s possible the special was filmed back in June – with the cast, including Bean, Mark Addy (King Robert), Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo) and more seen at the Belfast wrap party.

Conan O’Brien was also reportedly seen around at the same time. While it might appear to put to bed swirling rumours of Khal Drogo’s return in season eight, there are some timeline discrepancies which raise some eyebrows.

For example, it doesn’t the reason behind Jason Momoa’s appearance on the set back in May, or why Wilf Scolding, who plays Prince Rhaegar, was knocking about in April (we smell flashback).

So how could Khal Drogo reappear after being killed? As we know with Jon Snow, death isn’t necessarily the end, with many fans clinging to hope the white walkers could potentially reanimate old faces we’ve seen before.

This wouldn’t work for Drogo because he was burned to ashes back in the first season, but it’s possible he could return in a vision for Daenerys as a nice summation of her journey. Before she climbs aboard the Iron Thrones, perhaps?

Or, you know, Momoa could enjoy loitering about on the Game Of Thrones set for no discernible reason.

Game Of Thrones season eight is set to air in 2019.
