Game of Thrones R+L=D and B+A=J ? An Alternate Jon Snow / Daenerys Targaryen Theory.

What really happened at the Tower of Joy? Most of us buy into the ASOIAF / Game of Thrones fan theory R+L=J, but is there evidence to support another theory, R+L=D and that Jon Snow was not the result of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark? If so could B+A=J be the truth? I go over it here, Discuss!

  1. Dany's hair. There's no way that in a story that focused so intently on the color of the "Baratheon" children would come out of left field and say that Dany's Valyrian hair can come from a swarthy Stark and a fair Valyrian.

  2. I'm calling it: Rhaegar cannot be Jon's father in the books. 1) Ned is haunted by the tower of Joy: Arthur Dayne, Hightower and Whent, along with his sister, but hadn't thought about Rhaegar in years. How, when he's supposedly raising his son? Jon is more likely Arthur Dayne's son, thereby worthy of being the Sword of the Morning. 2) Jon doesn't have dragon dreams. 3) Arthur Dayne is suspiciously missing throughout Robert's Rebellion. He's Kingsguard. Supposed to be with either Rhaegar or Aerys. He's with neither. He chose love over duty? 4) Tower of Joy is in Dorne. Last place Rhaegar would take his secret lady would be his wife's kingdom. But the tower is right on the way to Starfall. What if Lyanna went into labor en route? Plus it makes no sense that Lyanna would fall for Rhaegar, the most famous married man in the kingdoms, when she didn't want Robert, a notorious womanizer.

  3. Aerys II Targaryen, also called the Mad King had 3 children that lived to adulthood, by his sister-wife, Rhaella Targaryen, were Rhaegar, Viserys, and Daenerys.

Rhaegar was Daenerys's elder brother, not her father….so R+L cannot be D.

  4. chris, actually I haven't heard the B plus A equals J theory. I've heard N plus A equals J.Im not sure of anything of course, however I read way back that G. R. R. M . said that only 1 or 2 have guessed the right answer. That was before I had heard the Ned and A share theory. I also believe that there probably will be one for the books one for the show kind of thing. Good Lord I can't wait to get all the real answers to all these questions.

  5. Why is arthur never in the conversation? im not saying hes jons father but wouldnt the son of the most powerful heroic knight ever known be an interesting reveal? to those that say hes the head of the kings guard and is not allowed to marry or have kids… I like to point to the fact that when rhaegar played a song at winterfell that made lyanna cry… it was a song about forbidden love and BROKEN OATHS…

  6. I like the theory about Ned and Ashara Dayne being Jon's true parents. Ideas of Ice and Fire had a fantastic video on it months or possibly a year before the S6 reveal, but I think he took a shit load of his videos down, so I can't give the convincing details he gave there. :/

  7. this is a huge stretch imo, but R+L=J was 100% confirmed by the time the season 6 finale aired. and the producers released a family tree the day after that literally states it. i enjoyed the video nonetheless, and the way you explained it

  8. Heard wht you said about the dire wolvels and feel strongly that they tie into the children of house stark. Do you feel that Sansa may sacrifie herself for AyrA or vice versa b because Lady died in her sisers place? Also Ghost could that be connected to he fact that Jon is hauntted by the ghosts of his patents? Thanks M

  10. Ned is a man of his word and he did promise Jon that he would tell him about his mother when he saw him again. Could the ToJ dreams be partly because Ned knew he may not see Jon again and he felt guilty ? Could Ned want Dany to live because she is Jon's only remaining family on that side ? Also, could the lemon tree dreams be Dany dreaming of her future instead of her past ? Underneath it all she is still just a little girl and that may be why she dreams of herself as a child. What are your thoughts on this theory ? Thanks for the videos and for always responding no matter how many subscribers you have ! That is integrity !!!

  11. Book only: Do you think Jon could be Ashara and Ned's son? That young Griff could be Rhaegar and Lyanna's? And that Ned had Ashara take young Griff to protect him while he took Jon back to Winterfell? Anytime Ashara is brought up in the books, it is in correlation to Ned, and it is brought up a significant number of times. Griff notes how young Griff becomes more like Rhaegar each year, even saying some of the same things to Griff that Rhaegar did.

  12. People say, "The show runners guessed R+L=J right when asked."

No, they obviously got the answer that he led everyone to at that point
in his writings. Just like when you first start reading the books you
think Rhaegar kidnapped and raped Lyanna (because George led you that
way at that point) and then later he reveals that they were lovers. Just like Bran and Rickon were dead, Davos was executed, Theon was possibly dead, etc. He's tricky.

Plus, what better way to save his surprises in the books. Let the show go off in one direction and George goes another way and his books don't get spoiled and he doesn't loose interest in finishing. He's still creating. I think he told them it was ok to put R+L=J because he was planning that as a red herring to begin with. He's not going to make it that simple. We'll see in 20 years if he doesn't die first.

  13. They grow lemon trees in a lot of Arabian countries, in their courtyards. Same with Spain and a whole lot of other places, including Napa Valley, Calif. They just cannot stand freezing temps and they need water, which can be dumped on them by a human. Your lemon tree theory is lame.

  14. Nice video, thanks for producing it. The house with the red door and A lemon tree being in Dorne is interesting. But ruling out it being in Bravos does not make sense. Bravos is surrounded by A ring of islands covered in trees that acted as A wind break. Trees are described as Nonexistent in bravos because of the lack of wood for fires in Bravos. But they could most certainly exist in private estate gardens. Greatly enjoyed the video Smokescreen.

  15. If this theory is true, the super obvious "proof" in Season 6 that Jon was Rhaegars and Lyannas son, not being the case, will pretty much shock the audience. Just what they like to do on Game of Thrones. I'm just saying. Thanks for the video, it's always cool with alternative theories.
