Upon their return, the Starks find a dead stag, sigil of House Baratheon. A bit farther they find a dead direwolf and her surviving pups. The direwolf has part of the stag’s rack in her side. Noting that the direwolf is the sigil of the Stark family and there are as many pups as the Stark children (even an albino runt for Jon), they take the pups in as companions.

  1. This foreshadowing is so scary. When Robert came to Winterfell, everyone he touched has died. The stag kills the direwolf which means when Robert (the stag) came north, he killed the Starks (the direwolf). It´s an awesome foreshadowing. They also said that direwolf´s doesn´t come this far south (of the wall). When the direwolf came south, it died. When the Starks came south they died.

  2. Extra foreshadowing – Theon, a Greyjoy, poised to kill a Stark wolf, only to be slapped down. Extra-extra foreshadowing – he nearly, but didn't, kill BRAN'S direwolf.
This is like, five or sixshadowing right there.

  3. 1. Direwolf (Ned Stark) goes south (King's Landing) and gets killed by a Stag (Joffrey Baratheon) leaving behind six pups
    2. Suspecting a mountain lion (Tyrion Lannister) to be the cause of death of the Stag (Joffrey Baratheon)
    2. Jon Snow adopts a white-haired direwolf (Targaryen trait)
    3. Ned Stark following Jon Snow's (true heir to the Iron Throne) proposition
    4. Theon Greyjoy wanting to kill the direwolves (his eventual betrayal against the Starks)

  4. fucking theon was ready to kill the little puppies at the drop of a hat. Dude's always been a punk. He didn't deserve all the torture from Ramsay, but he definitely deserved to be punished for all that he did.
