Game of Thrones’ script archives have confirmed fan suspicions that Tyrion Lannister has fallen in love with Daenerys Targaryen.

In scripts for seasons six and seven, notes of Tyrion’s behaviour can be seen, giving Peter Dinklage the instructions he needed to play the brooding dwarf.

For example, in the script for season six’s The Winds of Winter, Tyrion is instructed to look at the gazing Daenerys who is daydreaming into the distance.

‘He watches her for a beat too long and turns away. Lost in her own thoughts, she doesn’t notice that he’s flustered,’ it notes.

By the time season seven happens, Tyrion’s feelings have escalated to the point that he is torn between his beloved brother and the Mother of Dragons as they clash.

A note from The Spoils of War states:  ‘The brother he loves races towards his probably death at the hands of the queen Tyrion also loves.’

And there we have it folks. Fan theory officially confirmed.

Will the heartbroken Tyrion react with vengeance in the final season? (Picture: HBO)

The Writers Guild of America West have been housing the secrets of the show we’ve been desperate to know for ages – and it’s all in the public domain.

DB Weiss, showrunner for the epic fantasy series, has donated scripts to the Guild’s library, and they are open for anyone to go and enjoy.

After years of being hidden in plain sight, somebody has finally caught on, and has gone through all the donated scripts in painstaking detail to see what we could have missed.

Other notes confirm Cersei Lannister’s pregnancy, and how Jon and Daenerys really felt about each other when they first met.

But now Tyrion’s love has been confirmed, and he has seen her have a sexual encounter with Jon Snow (her nephew, though she doesn’t know that yet), will Tyrion’s heartbreak cause him to lash out in vengeance?

The Lannisters are hardly known for being level-headed…

Game of Thrones season eight airs April 2019 on HBO and Sky Atlantic.
