Also Ned stark was a good fighter. Jaime Is one of the best fighter alive in westeros at this moment. You thought he was a better fighter because this fight was a little cheezy at some point. Sword fight really get sooooooooo much better as episodes go.

Jaime Lannister is considered the best swordsman in Westeros, the fact that Ned was competitive with him is a compliment to Ned. In the books Ned isn't even a particularly good fighter, they made him better for the show.
Ned is not that great of a swordsman, he is above average, Jamie on the other hand is a prodigy and is considered one of the greatest of his time. If Jamie and Ned fight like 10 times, Jamie will most certainly win every single time!
The names take time to get down. You shouldn't worry about it too much and do recaps if you want to.

By the way, you don't have to sit and study everyone's name on some website like this is an exam. You will learn their name eventually like everyone else did. Most people learned everyone's name by the middle of season 2. Just relax, have fun and don't listen to dictators who nit pick and complain.
