  1. That's why book readers love the books so much. The story is richer with all the background info that the show didn't have time for. GRRM spends whole chapters on food, religion, history, and culture… but history and lore fills in most of the blanks nicely…

  2. Ygritte talks to Jon about it in season 2; "We've been here the whole time. You lot came along and just put up a big wall and said it was yours."
Whether they knew the wall was being built and chose to stay or they had no idea, is hard to say. But it's obvious they didn't expect to be forbidden from going south if they wanted to.

  3. CANT SAY THAT TILL U SEE VIKINGS!! MY BROTHA IM TELLIN…. GOT GAVE U 5 SEASONS OF DIALOG THEN THEY FUCK US WITH RUSHING THE END AFTER WE SAT THRU BS. RESPECT UR OPINION I JUST WISH U CAN BINGE WATCH VIKINGS I SWEAR I WILL PAY FOR THAT GIVE ME A PRICE

  4. That's James Cosmo narrating the Nights Watch. A great character actor. He has a voice that I could listen to all day and night. He should narrate more. I love your reactions/work Jody! Great job. TC…

  5. If the Night King and his minions are an allegory of nature, and climate change, then the NW are the watchers that no one believes. it was written that way about the Wall intentionally. think of climate scientists desperately trying to convince congress and corporations that WE HAVE A PROBLEM

  6. There's not one answer for why the free folk are beyond the wall, as there are so many distinct and unique tribes/cultures north of the Wall that you can't use a blanket term for all of them.

    – The majority of people beyond the Wall are content with their way of life, but with the white walkers on the rise they need to get south of the Wall for protection.
    – When the Wall was built, it is likely that people north of it didn't even know it was being built until it was too late to get through.
    – More than likely that there are plenty of people born into wildling tribes that would rather be south of the Wall but have no choice.
    – The free folk call people south of the Wall 'kneelers' as they serve Lords and Kings, whereas the wildlings are free.

The show does a good job of showcasing what the people of Westeros think of the Night's Watch. In the books, Ned has a talk with Benjen saying that if it's true that the white walkers are coming back, the Wall needs to be better defended. The northerners believe that the white walkers once existed but were defeated and won't come back since it's been thousands of years.

  7. Jody it's simple why people don't like The Wildlings. The Wildlings beloved that they are free and are ruled by no king. Basically they didn't want to have a King. They refused to follow the Kings of Westroes and so they were cast out. And after the years stories and lies spread about The Wildlings which made all the citizens of Westroes hate The Wildlings.

  8. The reason the show portrays the Nights Watch as sonewhat of a joke is because in-Universe everyone aside from the northerners think the Long Night and the Others/White Walkers are nothing but stories to frighten children. They all believe the Watch is nothing more than a prison colony and their purpose is only to guard against Wildling raiders. Many northerners don't believe in the old legends either, though they place greater value on the Watch than the southerners.

  9. Man "The Watcher On The Wall" that episode was EPIC. That fight of The Nights Watch vs The Wilding was amazing and perfectly directed. I remember when that Liam Neason giant (Wun Wun) shot that epic giant ass arrow BRUH BUCKETS

  10. Yup the punishment of desertion is death. Just like Ned did in season 1 "The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword" shout out to Ned man I miss him, still my favorite character.

  11. You should check out Westworld while we wait for Season 8, its got lots of twists and turns too, its the type of show which makes you think about theories, just like GOT.

  12. The graphics aren’t as good because this is season 1 lore! Lol from like 6 years ago!

If you were wondering, Maester Luwin was the first Stark maester. The one who took care of Bran when he woke up and so on. He’s dead now.

The wildlings are descendants of the first men as well. They were kicked onto the other side because they were considered savage and uncivilized. Some are tbh (dusty ass Thenns).

Last thing😂😂😂 I think it’s cool how all of the narrators have their own opinions. Like Jeor really believes in the night’s watch while Tywin was scornful and mocking. It’s pretty neat.
