  1. The three names mentioned by Stannis when he burned the leeches make sense, because these 3 people are the only 3 people who are currently proclaiming themselves as kings in Westeros. Joffrey, obvious. Rob, because he proclaim himself King in the North, and Baylon because he proclaimed himself King of the Iron Island (if you remember a while back when Theon returned to his father). Obviously, Stannis believes he is the only right ruler of the 7 kingdoms.

  2. Just a simple note about the White Walkers and the wight (zombie thing): they are two different things. The wight/zombies are basically just dead man raised as the undead army of the White Walker. They can be easily killed, relatively, either by force or by fire, and they behave basically like normal movie zombies. Meanwhile, the White Walkers themselves are a distinct race/creature that has 'superpowers' like what you see here: super strength, able to shatter blades/swords etc, and their weakness, as you see here, is dragon glass. There is another weakness that you will see in future episodes.

  3. The ravens weren't really following them, more like scattering. The ravens are watch, that's all. The tree with faces on them are the heart trees that they have all over the place like the one at Winterfell and the one Jon and Sam kneel to the "old gods" when they took their vows. There are multiple trees like that.

  4. Dead bodies with blue eyes are wights, they die then are transformed by white walkers the creature Sam just killed. How they are made you will find out later. The trees aren’t really a spoiler, they are trees the children of the forest used to worship. In the first episode, Ned was sharpening his sword ice under one. They are all over the north and beyond the wall

  5. Ned Stark was cleaning his sword ICE right next or on a Weirwood Tree (tree with a face and red sap) in season 1. Sacred trees of the old gods. Bran was praying to the tree in season 1 as well, it was when Robb left to war. It was also when Hodor exposed his member, remember?

  6. Jamie is awesome…has always been awesome.unfortunately most peoples view is skewed by neds opinion of him.he save thousands of people during what most people of the realm consider his most despicable act(killing the mad king)

  7. Basically the white walker made the sword so cold that it shattered. They kill people and raise them as "Wights" which are basically zombies. I think what they did to the baby in season 2 is how they make new white walkers.

  8. 1) The tree with a face on it is a Wierwood tree. There are many of them all over the North and beyond the wall. They are a major part of the Old Gods religion.

    2) Balon Grejoy declared himself King of the Iron Islands and the North in the episode where Theon turned on the Starks.

  9. I’ve seen this episode many times. With this show, EVERY line of dialogue matters- there are no words used as filler. You may not know the meaning of the dialogue for a few seasons, but it all matters.

That being said, I’ve NEVER noticed the tree in the Sam / White Walker scene. Thanks for paying attention to every detail, and taking the time to share your insights and reactions with us.

I know I’m not alone in saying I’m very much looking forward to the next reaction.

Also, if you don’t mind, what is the correct spelling of Alistair’s name? Cheers.

  10. Balon Greyjoy is useing the north upriseing to to his own rebellion while the north that normaly wards and keeps the iron ilanders in check have their hands full.
So Stannis is putting curses useing blood magic on all who claims the right to rule the lands he has claim to.

  11. Stannis puts three leaches with Kings blood in the fire:
    1. one for Joffrey because he's a usurper in his eyes (and, as we know, this is true since he isn't Roberts son and Stannis is the rightful king)
    2. one for Robb Stark because he and the Northern lords declared him as King in the North so he rebells against the crown
    3. one for Balon Greyjoy because he rebells AT THIS MOMENT by invading the North (we only saw Theon conquering Winterfell but many Northern strongholds are occupied by the Ironmen right now – you can hear this in some dialogues between Theon and his sister Yara in season 2)
