  1. I have watched lots and lots of folks reacting to this episode. But none of them had as haunting an expression on the face as Miss Anna during the first minute of this massacre. Poor sweet Summer Child. Hang in there young lady.

  2. There is no "right way" to handle the Red Wedding: silence, anger, shock, tears are all different ways people have reacted. This is a very emotional and challenging episode and you were very mature, Anna. Suprise visits from Grandmas definitely help the feeling-better process.
To House Anna: Dream of spring.

  3. So many times, I have wished viewers the transition, from summer child, to winter child; but this, this is really a shift to winter child. I can only agree with American Mum; she didn't blink, and the suffering was different from the adult audience. Welcome to winter, Anna.

  4. I always say, "I cry like a little girl" every time I watch this episode but you certainly proved me wrong, Anna. I'm watching your reaction and I'm a blubbering idiot while you're taking it like a champ. Good for you.

  5. I suspected she would be sad and confused. I remember when I was around Anna's age and I watched a war movie that made me somewhat cynical because the good guys died. I hope it's not the same for her.

  6. I was sick with worry for her as the Bolton reveal and stomach stab approached. Even my normal perverse pleasure at the loss of hope of new viewers could not stop my worry for her. Hope will not be too much. Oh no, it’s beginning. Good luck.

  7. Anna handled it like a champ. Amazing timing for a surprise visit! So glad that went better than expected/dreaded by all of us. Great job Anna being able to discuss after. Most, myself included, were too devastated following the episode to even recall clearly the events prior to the violins upon first viewing. I'm sure your notes helped Mark. 👍

This episode really is a rite of passage as much as Ned's execution.

Looking forward to further reactions as the story progresses. Even moreso for reactions to the few (and far between) happy payoffs coming up. What I'm really most excited about immediately is Anna's discussions on the Arya/Hound story arc as it unfolds shortly. The two I'm most dreading are the Door and that infamous Jon Snow season finale.

Great job as always Mark! 👍👍👍

  8. Man, that was hard to watch. Anna did well though. She was in a state of disbelief for most of it, at least until Greywind. When her lip started trembling I choked up. I was more concerned for you though Mark. You kept looking over to make sure she was alright and then when the screen went black you looked a bit lost and had this guilty look on your face which said "Am I an asshole for putting my daughter through that?"

It goes to show though, there's no crisis so distressing that it can't be helped by a Grandma and a great dane. As I'd hoped, Anna bounced back but still wasn't ready to talk about the last 10 minutes of the episode. Kudos to you Mark for trying to add a little levity to the discussion with the reinactment of the Sam and Jon "Wizard exchange".

I hope Anna doesn't dwell on this episode too much. You know she has an inquisitive mind as the first thing she said was "WHY?"

Great reaction guys. Looking forward to the next one.

  9. Oh, Anna! You did very well. Grandma magically appearing when needed kinda helped too, huh? And Mark…I saw that blinking going on. I feel ya. Welcome to the new 'Young' Woman of Winter!! 😄❤️

  10. first off…good job Mark.
…as I watched Anna's reaction through the whole event, I realized that my face probably looked exactly the same my1st time.
I agree with you on grandmas timing…we saw enough of annas reaction, watching her be upset any longer than that would've felt wrong…
…I just remember the stark reunions to come in the series, and smile thinking of her reaction to them…✌

  11. The Red Wedding is a brutal rite of passage from sweet summer child into a lady of winter. Anna handled it better than most. Gods bless Grandma for showing up just when needed despite the weather.

I didn’t hear you refer to it as the “Red Wedding” (at least not on camera), are you waiting till after the Purple Wedding to explain those terms so as to avoid potentially tipping Anna of about a certain death at the next wedding?

  12. Oh Anna….. Her little face… You can actually see her little soul crushing. She handled it better than I still do! I can see you wanting to comfort her during this Mark – in a sad way, I'm glad you didn't, this way she could embrace her emotions.. Which will make certain episodes coming up, all the more sweeter.

I think maybe let her have her Scooby Do during certain episodes coming up too, she's going to need him!

Great reaction, Anna! What do you think Arya is going to do now? Or Sansa when she hears the news?

  13. I thought Anna handled the “Red Wedding” like a champ! I could tell she was shocked and all but seriously many ppl freaked out and many threatened to never watch the show anymore…at least at first. Hang in there, anything can happen but it is worth the ride 🙂 your dad rocks too! My parents would never trust that I could handle this at your age. Clearly he understands his kid & knows you can handle it 👍🏾

  14. That moment of shock she was frozen.. and then you could see the tears well up in her eyes. I have seen that scene now so many times now, but seeing her little heart break had me tearing up as well. Anna you're a Woman of Winter now. Welcome to Game of Thrones.
