  1. Just a quick one, it was just a slip of the tongue RE the gold being burnt, I know that it is safely back in King's Landing. My intention was focusing more on the fact that Dany had just been complaining about wanting/needing the provisions from The Reach so her Dothraki can eat, but she just torched it all.

  2. I don't think Missandei is informing on Dany, she has no connections in Westeros and nobody in Westeros knows her or is even aware of her. And so far she's had no reason not to trust Dany and every reason to worship her.

  3. The flaw in the writing was the scorpion not being taken out when it missed the first time. And really it should not be an effective weapon against the Dragons. A man cannot load it, follow the dragon and fire it in the time it would take the dragon to circle and burn it. The only way that it would work would to mass fire 12+ scorpions at once. A fast flying object is hard to hit.

  4. I think Jaime's alive. I can't think of one good reason to save him from an honorable death by dragonfire just so he can drown moments later, or even so he can be captured and killed just a couple episodes later. He's got a very important part to play in the end of this story, and I think that scene just proved it.

  5. So clearly the showrunners wouldn't have Bronn save Jamie at the last second only to have them both drown, and it seems implausible that Denarys wouldn't search for the person who just tried to kill her and the man who saved him. Curious to see what happens…

  6. A thought on Jamie, he seems to be gathering loyalties or the potential of loyalties through his new humanistic approach to violence and cruelty. Dickon's loyalty has come through an appeal to his honest feelings and the contrast with his father. Bronn seems to be acting more out of respect for jamie than for gold or promises at this point. And it seems possible that he could rely on Edmure and the Riverlands after his mercy there. A western declaration for Jamie doesn't seem in the cards with time running out but something more than Jamie separating from Cerci seems to be happening.

  7. Love your videos – but Arya vs Brienne : most epic scene of the episode ?!!!
You gotta be kidding – I thought the whole episode was super slow and short until I saw the last scene ( that's where all the money went )

  8. Something to note:

Celtic armies used what they called a Heavy Scorpion, which was used in addition to archers and is what I guessed the scorpion in the show was inspired by. Similarly, weapons like the Arbalest were originally meant to just be easier crossbows (Remember Joffrey's Crossbow that Tyrion took in S4? Arbalist, not a crossbow) but they were also used as siege weaponry (especially when defending from a battlement) as they were stable, easier to aim, and had a mechanism to load it other than brute physical strength.

I just wanted to add that in about this episode since some people were saying 'why is it called the scorpion?' implying it wouldn't be unless the arrows were poisoned. I think this is just an allusion to the kinds of weapons used in times long past.

For one, there's no guarantee that a poison that works on a human would also work on dragons, they're magical fire breathers… we actually know very little about Dragons abilities, limitations and regeneration capabilities within the shows context. It could also be the opposite, a poison that works on dragons but isn't effective on humans. Or has equal effect, I'm just throwing out ideas.

  9. Dany never burned the gold at all. Or even all of the food. The majority of the army had crossed the Blackwater rush way up ahead. We are just seeing the stragglers at the rear. Randyl was talking about how they needed to get those stragglers across before they could be cut off from the main force. And I'm glad the gold made it. Everything that gets in the way of Dany just easily taking the throne, then sitting there for all of season 8, just…I dunno…painting her nails or whatever, is a good thing. When there's nobody to fight, the story is over.

  10. She didn't burn "all" of the provisions. The loot train was miles long. What she did was divide the battle field with fire and then burn a back line so the troops were trapped in the middle. You can see it if you pause the show in one of the scenes where Dany is circling the field.

  11. sadly I think Jamie will be captured by Danny and Tyrion will free him from the prison just like Jamie did to him. Then Tyrion might have to face the wrath of the dragon queen. Hinted by early this season when Danny asked Tyrion about his love for his family. ;((

  12. The battle scene is quite unconvincing. Why were Dothraki charging full speed long before they reached the top of the hill and became visible to Lannister soldiers? They made a lot of noise and gave additional time for Lannister troops to prepare. I am also sceptical if warriors without armour would be so effective against armoured knights. First they would be decimated by archers and then their cutting weapons would be rather ineffective against armour. Last but not least, Dothraki horses went through fire started by the dragon. But horses as other animals are usually scared by fire.

  13. No horse will ever run straight into a proper shieldwall. Tyrion said the Lannister army was well kept and well trained. Although Drogon and the dothraki howling would probably make them shit themselves the Lannister soldiers didn't flee, so the dothraki shouldn't have been able to just crush through it. It still looked cool though, and I guess Dany could just burn a couple more holes in the line for the dothraki to get through.
