Sansa Stark Dress #1: It’d be heavy dark purple velvet (cause purple looks great on her) trimmed and edged in fur along the collar, shoulders, sleeves and bottom of the dress. It would be cut in a similar pattern to Cersei’s dress, with the panels and under dress, which is in pale gray silk to represent Stark colors. The front panel embroidery is of Weirwood branches and leaves with Stark direwolves and Tully black fish (in honor of her dead uncle). Anyway, it would be clasped with the Tully broaches.

Sansa Stark Dress #2: I call it Sansa’s war dress and it really sends a message to Littlefinger to not touch her. Going by inspirations, the neckline is inspired by Lysa Arryn, while the neck roll is obviously Catelyn and it’s embroidered with Stark wolves and Tully fish. Both the raven feathered shoulder cap sleeves and the detachable dark grape sleeves are from Margaery, as well as how the purple scarf from the neck roll is used underneath the outer clothing. The chest portion is modeled after Ned’s leather gambeson [jerkin], and the raven feathered sides are fashioned after the knights lamè plates she had seen in King’s Landing to make her seem more impenetrable to… unwanted advances.

Lady Tarly: The fabrics would be a Tuscan red velvet and gold and Tuscan red silk brocade, you could argue that it’s to show the Tarly’s allegiance to House Lannister, but I just really liked the color. The bodice overlaps right to left, but it’s cut in an empire waistline with princess seams, which fall into panels that open to reveal the hidden brocade underneath. The sleeves, while short like Margaery, are pulled up instead of cap sleeves to give softness and grace to the character and are finished with red teardrop beads. The upper back is closed with Chinese plate buttons from the Qing dynasty (similar to the picture below, especially the yellow one) and the lower back is open in a domed triangle shape, loosely similar to a strung bow. The scarf is a gold chiffon fabric wrapped across the shoulders and trailing towards the back. It’s held by beaded shoulder fasteners and a bow and arrow shaped broach in the lower back below the opening. Her hair is also styled in the shape of a strung bow and arrow. The outfit is finished with simple gold and garnet drop earrings and a gold and garnet bracelet.

Ellaria Sand “if she had won” dress. It consists of a peacock green sand washed silk dress and cape. It has a slit running all the way up her thigh cause if anyone can rock a leg slit, it’s definitely Ellaria. The shoulder pads would be made from stamped and molded gold aluminum and rubies to give it both light and power (the rubies are a reminder of the bliss spilt in her what for vengeance). In this timeline, Nymeria and Obara are both dead, but her and Tyene would have escaped, so she would wear the leather snake print belt with the coiling snake, leather wrist belts, and the crossed leather armor with the slithering snake in honor of her girls. The bra is sand colored silk brocade held with snake print leather and and metal sunburst clasps with a ruby in the middle. She completes the look with sand colored suede and brown leather high heeled boots.

  3. Heey Heidi, thank you for this video and for the season 7 series in general! I think I fell in love with Daenys costume. Ohh gosh I just love those dynamic shapes and lines and the coat is just SO impressive! I'd love to create this dress as a cosplay even 😂though it gives me anxiety even thinking of it 😂 It would be insanely expensive because I'd need insane amounts of high quality fake fur, and it would probably add up to hundreds of hours of stitching. 😂But thank you so much for your analysis. I was wondering all the time, how they achieved the stripes and zig-zags. What you said definitely makes sense!

  6. I'm a guy but I so want Danny's silver chain bling that's wrapped around her chest. It feels unisex to me that both guys and girls can wear. I've always loved dragons, silver and chains. It has a very HR Giger feel to it whom I'm a huge fan of his work. But it costs close to $3,000.00. The world can be very unfair. 😩

  7. Although when we think of lamellar armor we usually think of Japanese armor, lamellar armor originated in the Middle East. From there it spread to Asia and Europe. Roman Centurions had lamellar armor. Most of Japanese armor is based on Chinese armor from the Tang Dynasty including katana swords being based on Tang Dynasty dao swords. Japan also adopted warfare influence from Korea and Mongolia.

    Later in samurai culture there was an influx of European influence from Spain and Portugal, including high-rise castle construction engineering techniques, the use of hand rifles and lamellar armor being replaced by solid metal armor that would jut out at the belly to provide greater protection.

You're very wrong about arya's quilted jacket – the gambeson is the basic type of armor for one-armed fencing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambeson (the heavier the weapon the heavier the armour) in sport competititons in historical fencing qiulted gambeson is the basic uniform of all participants, it saves you from blades and hits not for 100% but to the condition of scratches and bruises, costumiers of GOT always were very accurate in selecting the armed outfits according to the fencing type and style as it must be irl. + quilted jacket or how it called in soviet russia vatnik is a very good outerwear for cold weather like is on the north c:

As a russian in the university I had a big course of ethnic costume which included that big amount of syberian tribes and I must notice that again you're wrong about sealskins – only fishing tribes hunt for seals and sealskin gives not only warm but waterproof, all the other continentals survive breeding deers and deerskin is their one and only material – instead of pottery, fabric, underwear is fur and leather as well (but the biggest mistake of all american-european costumers who haven't experienced the real cold is that if you want some warm you wear it fur inside, fur outside is a totally decorative use)
    3. Dany's furcoat is furoutside rabbit with a very stylish haircut – there is no embroidery or quilting with funinside stripes – again, living in russia I've seen furcoats of this style

  16. I imagine that whenever one of the Free Folk dies in battle, the others strip the body of its furs. They seem like a practical ppl. As a matter of fact, I don't think Ygritte was wearing her parka
    during her burial scene. Those furs must be beyond precious to people living in the Arctic (aka Beyond the Wall).

  18. I absolutely love your videos and this one was no exception! Your analysis is always on point and I love that you talk about the influence that historical garments have on the show as well (and examples). I'm also glad that you talked about why the "magnificent seven" boys didn't wear any hats or hoods apart from Gendry. Of course it makes sense to the viewer that they would all have head coverings but we know that the production team doesn't want to cover their handsome faces. It was funny to me that the one guy who hasn't seen snow before was the one with the hood lol. Like everyone else, as soon as I saw Dany's gorgeous white coat I couldn't wait for this video and your analysis of it! Keep up the good work and I can't wait for your episode 7 analysis and all of your other (non GoT) videos!

  19. The symbol could be something to do with the Mountain that they were heading for in Beyond The Wall(The one in the Hounds vision) maybe that's where the white walkers originated, and that's their sigil

Maybe the pattern for her costume (Daenerys) instead of water it represents the dragons teeth and the other markings on her costume may represent the the sturdiness of the dragon, the build of it. To show case the figure of Daenerys she must look military, healthy, strong and imposing. To show off her figure those lines follow her muscle structure. It looks very fitted and suits someone with power and it looks sophisticated and aristocratic and not to mention expensive!
