The seventh season of Game of Thrones was not as bad as the final season, but there’s no denying it was one of the weaker seasons of the show.

The biggest issue was the abrupt change of pace. Whereas the previous six seasons had a slow, ever-building narrative, the seventh season was rushed. As a result, character development was abandoned in favour of plot progression.

There were also a number of gaping plot holes in the seventh season. As well as the bizarre speed in which characters moved across Westeros, ‘Beyond The Wall’ was packed with plot conveniences.

Still, Season 7 wasn’t all bad. Sam’s time in the Citadel was a small yet wonderfully entertaining storyline, and the battle in ‘The Spoils of War’ was one of the best moments of the whole show.

As such, the penultimate season of Game of Thrones certainly had its highlights. Indeed, compared with the last six episodes, the seventh season was more than adequate.

How much can you remember about Season 7?
