My review of GOT Season 7.

  1. HBO wanted to give them the budget for more seasons, they wanted around 10. Means D&D didn't have to, speed up books 4&5 and could of fleshed out the story in its entirety until the fucking 6th book came out but they are sick of writing and instead of doing the right thing and passing it off to someone else they did the selfish thing and are attempting to blow through it. God I hate them right now.

  2. I think that seasons 1-6 are amazing. Season seven had a good start but HOLY HELL IT WENT DOWNHILL after the 4th episode. Nothing came as a surprise in the 7th season.

  3. Excellent, well thought out, review. I totally agree, as a fan of both the novels and the show I found this series, and a lot of the last one, much less enjoyable. It's still a good show, it just feels like a very formulaic one, and after watching every year I'm wondering if D&D are just a bit bored now. The wonderful character development which was the cornerstone of everything good about the early years, appears almost non-existent of late. Like you I really don't want to 'bash' a show that has given me so much enjoyment, and I will certainly watch until the end but, it now seems like the writers are just racing along ticking off significant plot-points, as if they were reading a perfunctory road map. I do find that a little cynical because they know that very few will give up on the show at this stage, and they are unlikely to suddenly have an influx of new viewers who start at series 6/7. Thanks, enjoyed your review. Best wishes from 'sunny' Suffolk, England.

Ps- I thought the 'plot' by Sansa and Arya was a real cheat, and very lazy from the writers. I feel that 'Murder She Wrote' had sharper 'intrigue' than this!

  4. This season of game of thrones was kinda fun to watch but unlike the other seasons in didn't really leave a lasting impression on me. It was okay but it's also really obvious how the shows writing has suffered with no more books

  5. I still watch, because it's still a fun show. But you can really feel the difference in the show when they ran out of book material.

When the book finally comes out, it's almost guaranteed to be completely different, right?

  6. Whoever is doing security for Game of Thrones needs to be fired because of how much this season was spoiled. I hope not everything is leaked for season 8 because I'd like to surprised.

Thinking on it more, Tyrion's character doesn't make a lot of sense this season. Like from last season he might have learned that diplomacy isn't the best policy against an enemy that is bound and determined to kill you. He tried to appease the Great Masters and keep them from fucking shit up in Meeren and his plan didn't work. So shouldn't he now know that diplomacy was the wrong choice when arriving at Westeros with Dany's crew? I disagree that attacking Casterly Rock and having The Reach and Yara's armies attack King's Landing was a completely bad plan but after that failed Tyrion should have stopped wringing his hands over the fact that scores of people are going to die because they're in a war and that's what happens. He's supposed to be so clever and pragmatic. Where is that character?

To me the Winterfell story line was the worst story line this season. Petyr was completely wasted. All he did for 3 or 4 episodes is creep on Sansa. And Sansa's conflict with Arya was so ill conceived. Was an act? I don't even know. I hope it was because that means they both acted like complete morons for real and Bran never bothered to step in and help his sisters because he was too busy having visions off screen or some shit like that.

I agree that it was ridiculous that they didn't kill more characters.

  7. Despite the flaws it's hard to really hate the show. That might be "fanboyism" but some shows can make you lose interest completely because of their flaws. Game of Thrones is the only show i can think of that despite having many inconsistencies it still can hold my interest.

  8. STOP BEING A HIPSTER:
Television shows always speed up a bit towards the end. This is to be expected. This usually because until the last season or two, especially on cable shows like this when they need to crunch the shows down under ten episodes like this and Sopranos and shows like the stuff ya see on AMC-like Breaking Bad and probably Walking Dead…… This happens. It's not always that great and it can be annoying, but I just take the good with the bad. I still love the show. Stop being such a hipster.

  9. Wait a minute …… You think that Deadwood and Sopranos is as good as this?….lol! Or so it seems like within the first few mins that you're making the comparisons….. This show is so much better than Deadwood and Sopranos….. I'm a huge fan of True Blood as well, and I think this is better than that as well…… I'm extremely surprised that you don't see it as being just that – Spectacular…….. I personally think the last few seasons are the best. They did great on them.

Oh well. I guess to each their own.

  10. 200 % agree with the plot hole. Good job fixing this episode =D the producers should hire you X). Also Danny and Jon is no fan service – it has been planned by Martin since book 1. I would argue they simply messed it up : as you say the actors don't have any chemistry. It was painful to watch.

  11. The main problem I believe is that D&D were more interested in writing the Red Wedding because afterwards it involved trying to create outside of the box since a lot of stories are condense after Book 3. It also didn't help that much of the changes they made prior to S4 weren't even that good to begin with because D&D cared more about the big picture where they overlook the minor details that make the big picture lose a lot of the weight.
