This is a crazy theory for The Catspaw Dagger after watching Season 7 Episode 4 “The Spoils of War”.

Where does the Catspaw Dagger come from and what’s so special about it? It was used by the Catspaw Assassin who tried to kill Bran Stark and it has returned for Season 7 but why? In this video I give details on why I think it could be back and make my own theory.

Thanks for watching!

  1. I 100% think that assassin was bran warged to kill himself. I think he finds out he's the night king, and a dagger like that has the potential to kill himself AND his connected night king form. Why would the assassin not be stealthier and risk his life the way he did to kill bran. I think bran didn't know his mother was there because he was in a coma, so the warged assassin (bran) freaked out when he saw his mom and started blurting out "you're not supposed to be here." How farfetched could this be with everything thrown at us?

  2. This dagger is called Lightbringer and it's the only weapon, which can kill Brandon and destroy the loop of time (long winter/strange seasons) and the white walkers. So the Catspaw Assassin didn't have a valeryan steel dagger for nothing.

  3. she kills middlefinger with it in the finale, yes, i watched it, sansa has littledick confess his crimes, bran is there as a truth person, littledick tries lying, sansa says all his crimes, then arya slits his throat in front of all the northern lords and they do nothing

  4. Bran has a very serious (even for new Bran) look on his face as he hands the dagger to Arya.  And HBO used a special sound effect when it happened.  I figure Bran new that something momentous was just put in place as he handed Arya the dagger.  Maybe his death as the Nite King. Or it will lead to her death…

  5. That book shows that the dagger belonged to the Targaryen family from the days of Aegon the Conqueror, and the ruby on the hilt is a hint that it might belong to…..Rhaegar! Remember his armor was covered with rubies and broke when Robert Baratheon's warhammer smashed it, thus giving the river the name Ruby Ford. Robert might even have killed Rhaegar with this dagger, and taken it as a trophy, so it may have never belonged to Littlefinger. Unlike Ice or other reforged Valyrian steel weaponry, the dagger has distinctive lines and markings indicating it was never reforged into other weapons, but is intact in its original Valyrian made form. If it was forged by original Valyrian sorcery, it might be the ONLY weapon that can kill the Night King. Everyone is looking for Valyrian steel swords as the weapons that can kill the Night King, but they can only kill his spawns, the white walkers because most of those swords were reforged and lost much of its magic. No one asked why when the Night King and his white walkers were defeated and exiled North of the Wall in the Long Night, but he was never destroyed?! Because those thousands of years ago before there were Valyrians or dragons, they didn't have anything to kill HIM with. The only thing they could do to keep him away was build a big ass magic wall. Now they do…the dagger can take him out! But the dagger may need to have dragon's blood on it to have the power to kill the Night King, as Azor Ahai's legend foretold. Whose heart must be stabbed by it to give the blade fire? Who is the person that is living fire? Think about it. I'll give the dagger its true name: Lightbringer.

  6. MY theory takes it one step further and that is that the stone in the blade is a relic of the first dragonglass dagger used by the children of the forest to "make" the night king and is the only weapon that will "kill" him

  7. Yes, I believe the "Cats Paw" dagger originally belonged to Rhaegar Targaryen.  Afterall at the battle, Rhaegar was decorated with red rubies on his armor….what they weren't rubies and were actually red dragonglass?  Possible.  I'm not sure about Joffrey hiring a man to kill Bran, for what reason?  I think it was Jaime who hired the killer…or Cercei…since the "fall" didn't kill Bran.

Also I think that Bran when he was outside of the Wall with Meara, after Uncle Benjen said his goodbyes and told Bran he would be ready when the Night King came to the Wall…that when Bran touched the tree (remember, Meara said are you sure you're ready for this? He said he had to be ready because he was the Night King….) well I think Bran had visions of each of the members of his family prior to going to Winterfell.  This is how he knew about Sansa and her wedding night, Arrya at the crossroads heading to King's Landing and changing her mind…etc.  He already has seen Peter Baelish/Little Finger and the scene of the conversation with Varys "Chaos is a ladder" this is why he could repeat it…

It's a great season and moving at a clip.  I still can't wait for Jon to meet up with Arrya and I'm anxious for Brienne and Arrya to see that the Hound is alive…Arrya to meet up with Gendry, etc.

What do you think will happen to Robin of the Vale?  After Little Finger is killed that is…thoughts?

    Thanks for a great video.

  8. The dagger has a ruby in the pommel. Rubies are magical in GOT (think Millisandre's necklace). Prediction: Littlefinger will use the dagger to control Arya Stark.

  9. I suspect LF and lord Tywind conspired for the assassination on Bran. How Tywind came to own the dagger and give it to little finger i cant explain though. But between those 2 is everything needed. The means, motive and a scapegoat(Tyrion).

  10. There is a theory that the blade is a fragment of the two failed attempts to make light bringer. The first two shattered but Valerian steel can be recast. However if light bringer was just recast why all the time and effort? A sharpened fragment of the shattered sword would not be a great as light bringer but still powerful. Some white walker is going to get it good.

  11. The dagger used to chop varys root ad stem ? melisandre is about to meet Arya and might recognize the dagger. Red priestess use red stones to change appearance. May be this the light bringer in disguise.

  12. I've seen a few theories on the dagger but one thing no one seem to pay attention to is the unusual pointy handle of the dagger. It seems to me that the pointy handle end is some kind of weapon on its own, maybe with a special purpose or magical power. When Arya is handed Needle by Jon Snow there three things that stand out to me 1: Arya asked Nymerya to fetch her gloves. To wield the pointy golden end of the dagger you'd need gloves or something else to protect your hands from the blade. 2: Arya says to Jon Snow "I know which end to use". This could be a foreshadowing of her eventually wielding the dagger and using the pointy golden end and not the valerian blade. 3: Jon asks Arya if she likes the balance talking about Needle. But I think this could be in reference of how the dagger could potentially be a key tool to bring balance to the cosmos of Westeros.

  13. Wow… I can only imagine how amazing and wonderful your life would become if you abandoned these hollywood fantasy stories and applied your mind to improving reality and growing in wealth and power…
