Game of Thrones seventh season may have only just wrapped, but already fans are looking for news regarding the final six episodes.
Watchers on the Wall, the Game of Thrones fan-site that made waves last year after covering the run-up to the seventh season, has already got word of two casting announcements.
First, there’s the role of ‘Northern Girl’. While obviously an unremarkable casting name, they’re searching for an eight-year-old for a “very nice stand-out part for a strong-minded young girl with a fighting spirit.”
The description continues, describing the character as a straight-talking Northern-accented girl, someone ‘remarkable for her dauntlessness and integrity’. Another character like Lyanna Mormont, perhaps? The actor would be required for the week commencing 17 November.
Second, we have ‘Boy’, an eight to 12-year-old who’s physically fit, agile, and with a distinctive face. The character apparently comes from a poor background and fights for a better life.
Notably, ‘Boy’ would appear would “completely own the scenes that he appears in,” hinting at multiple appearances for the character. No ethnicity or height are mentioned. The actor would be needed the last weeks of November and December.
Already, speculators are wondering how the two will fit into season eight. The Northern Girl seems most obvious, likely being a young girl being trained for the fight against the White Walkers (Jon made sure everyone knew even girls would need to fight).
The boy, though, seems harder to pin down. Chances are the child won’t be based int he North, otherwise they would have mentioned the word before his name. Instead, chances are he lives in King’s Landing, or perhaps Essos. There’s also the possibility both will portray characters in flashbacks, thanks to Bran’s all-seeing power.
Whatever the case, we have a huge wait on our hands before season eight starts, either late next year or early 2019.
