Could Cersei Lannister really be the only character left standing at the end of Game of Thrones (Picture: HBO)

Game of Thrones fans have come up with a twisted ending for the fantasy epic which leaves Cersei Lannister as the only survivor of the war against the Night King by offering up her unborn child.

As it stands, anyone could see their head on the chopping block come season eight, although the evidence keeps pointing to Daenerys Targaryen being among those almost certain to meet their end in 2019, which is pretty grim.

Redditors are predicting Cersei’s baby could be the key to stopping the Night King, should she be willing to hand it over in exchange for unprecedented power, which we’d imagine she probably is.

Reddit user lounaaaaaaaa offered up: ‘What if Cersei is the only one who survives by offering her child to the Night King and ends up ruling everything like she always wanted?’

Sounds plausible, right? Well others are totally shipping this idea, with another fan posting: ‘Tasty. Just the sort of ending I wouldn’t put outside the realm of possibility given the wacky stuff that goes on in this show.’

‘That could be her plan at the end. Jaime won’t allow it though, and tries to stop her. That’s how he ends up killing her, which he definitely will. Then the Night King kills him,’ stevemillions wrote.

But we like this suggestion better: ‘I still think that Arya is going to kill Cersei, while wearing Jamie’s face. It’ll give fans of both Jamie and Arya satisfaction, all while making Maggy the Frogs prediction come true….but with a twist.’

So, so, so scandalous.

Others think Cersei is secretly plotting with Tyrion Lannister to take down Dany, after noticing a conversation between the rival siblings must have been cut from season seven, surely to throw it all back in our faces in season eight.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2019.
